Raid Yields…Cocktail Napkins and Dinner Menus?

The desperation of the left is pathetic to behold.

They tried their best to get President Donald Trump with a bogus FBI raid, but it hasn’t gone well for them.

Among the items seized from Mar-a-Lago are a cocktail napkin and a birthday dinner menu.

Seriously, that’s what they took…

The New York Post and Washington Post both confirmed as much.

It’s funny that nobody cared when Hillary Clinton, as first lady, took actual White House property home with her when Bill left office…

Our friends at the New York Post report on some of the items seized:

The raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was reportedly sparked by an ongoing probe into the box loads of materials the ex-president took with him to Florida when he left the White House — including notes from North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and even a cocktail napkin.

A showdown over the materials first erupted back in January when the National Archives said it had retrieved 15 boxes of White House records — including classified information — from Mar-a-Lago that Trump should have turned over when he left office. The feds took another 12 boxes of material on Monday.

Some of the items recovered in January included correspondence from Kim Jong Un and a letter former President Barack Obama had written his successor, sources told the Wall Street Journal.

A list of the unclassified items found in the boxes was about 100 pages long — and included the cocktail napkin and a birthday dinner menu, according to a Washington Post source.

National Review also reports on the items seized:

Trump released a statement on Monday saying federal agents had raided his private residence despite his having cooperated with authorities for months to return documents he allegedly improperly took from the White House after his term. The National Archives and Records Administration recovered 15 boxes of records in January, including items “marked as classified national security information.”

A source told the Washington Post that an inventory of unclassified items in the boxes recovered in January is 100 pages long. Recovered items include a cocktail napkin, a birthday-dinner menu, a phone list, charts, slide decks, letters, memos, maps, talking points, schedules, and more, according to the report.

If this all sounds like a complete sham to you, it should.

Nobody cared when Hillary Clinton took almost $200,000 worth of items from the White House, including things that belonged in the permanent White House collection.

Breitbart reminds us of when the Clintons walked away with White House property without consequence:

In 2015, Breitbart News noted that former President Bill Clinton and his wife departed in 2001 with a spree of lavish gifts, but also took home property from the permanent White House collection.

According to Sally Bedell Smith’s book For Love Of Politics, written in 2007:

“[The Clintons’] financial-disclosure forms revealed that they walked away with $190,027 worth of furniture, china, flatware, art, and other gifts, nearly half of it acquired in their final year. It also turned out that they took some property that actually belonged to the permanent White House collection. [Emphasis added]”

Ethics questions were also raised as Hillary Clinton, who was sworn in as senator on January 3, 2001, was accepting gifts significantly over $50, which is legally prohibited as a senator.

But sure, get those napkins and birthday menus back from President Trump…
