NYC Pride Parade Says Cops Not Welcome But Still Expect Them to Serve

After 25 years of ensuring the safety of its parade-goers, organizers for the NYC pride parade have decided to throw the boys in blue under the bus.

The level of disrespect is hard to process. Conservative news outlet CNN gives us the lowdown.

Organizers of New York City Pride banned the New York Police Department from participating in the annual June parade and related events and moved to reduce their presence on scene, saying their appearance threatened members of the community.

“The sense of safety that law enforcement is meant to provide can instead be threatening, and at times dangerous, to those in our community who are most often targeted with excessive force and/or without reason. NYC Pride is unwilling to contribute in any way to creating an atmosphere of fear or harm for members of the community.”

Rather than understanding the sacrifice of these brave men and women to keep them safe, these organizers are calling them hateful, racist, and dangerous.

Their behavior is tone-deaf. The organizers have spit in the face of the NYPD and taxpayers that foot the bill for their safety.

The police have to spend hundreds of hours in planning and fixing logistical challenges. New York City isn’t an open field in Woodstock; it’s a spiderweb of streets, sidewalks, blocks, avenues, and buildings.

Here’s what’s angering, pride march organizers made this announcement just one month before the actual march is to take place! That means they let the police invest tens of thousands of dollars in resources and planning while knowing they would not use them. Petty.

As if things weren’t outrageous enough, check out what the organizers are planning to do instead of police.

Event organizers said they no longer require security and first response from the NYPD and will instead reallocate those services to “trained private security, community leaders, and volunteers,” the statement reads. Heritage of Pride said it will use NYPD first response and security “only when absolutely necessary” and “as mandated by city officials,” according to the statement.

Instead of officers, they are going to use community organizers and volunteers. So basically, they are going to ensure Law and Order for tens of thousands of people with a team of Barrack Obama and blue-haired liberals waving their vaccine passports.

This is how you know it’s all for show and virtue signaling. The law requires that police be present for the safety of the eventgoers and the residents. It’s not legally possible for the organizers to kick the NYPD out.

What is truly sad is that in order to propogate a false narrative, Heritage of Pride is willing to exclude and ostrasize members of their own community. If you are an LGBTQ police officer, you aren’t welcome at the parade. What’s worse, their statement also excludes black police officers.

The Gay Officers Action League, or GOAL, an organization that represents LGBTQIA+ NYPD officers, said that the event organizers were taking “the low road.”
“Heritage of Pride is well aware that the city would not allow a large scale event to occur without police presence. So their response to activist pressure is to take the low road by preventing their fellow community members from celebrating their identities and honoring the shared legacy of the Stonewall Riots,” GOAL President Brian Downey said in a statement on Friday.

I look forward to seeing how many seconds it will take before Heritage of Pride organizers call 911 to get the police in to help them. It’s going to be hilarious and the NYPD is probably going to get the last laugh.
