Well, this should come as a shock to absolutely nobody.

Portland Antifa closed out the New Year on Saturday night the only way they know how:

Arson, vandalism, and violence…

Rioters broke windows, started fires, and clashed with police officers.

New year, same Antifa…

The Hill has more on the chaotic night of violence:

Protesters and police clashed in Portland, Ore., on Thursday night during a New Year’s Eve demonstration that police declared a riot.

The Portland Police Bureau designated the protest as a riot shortly before midnight on the holiday, citing the demonstrators’ use of violence, with local CBS affiliate KOIN reporting the declaration came at about 10:50 p.m.

Within a half hour, Portland police advanced on the demonstration, prompting protesters to blast fireworks at them while officers used pepper balls, rubber bullets or some other type of less-lethal munition, according to KOIN.

Police said in a release that they did not use gas but utilized “inert smoke and some impact munitions” in their response.

The police tweeted shortly after 11:30 p.m that a riot was declared after protesters used at least two Molotov cocktail-style firebombs and launched commercial-grade fireworks at the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse building and the Justice Center.

In their tweets and over loudspeakers, officials warned that those who remained in the area were “subject to arrest, citation, and/or the use of force, including but not limited to impact weapons and tear gas.”

Police said they became aware of a small gathering of people at 7:45 p.m., which later grew to 80 to 100 people with some resorting to violence, according to a release. The Portland Police Bureau reported that some of the violence involved people using tools to attempt to break into the Justice Center.

It's really sad once you realize that this is just Portland now.

This has gone on for the entirety of 2020, and it doesn't appear it's going to stop anytime soon.

Portland is akin to a third world country at this point...

The "protest" was declared a riot after the gathering turned violent.

The Sun with more:

A RIOT was declared in Portland last night after a New Year's Eve gathering turned violent.

Police shared pictures of the trash-strewn streets and said they were pelted with fireworks and Molotov-style cocktails.

They retaliated with tear gas and pepper spray after declaring the incident an "unlawful gathering" around 10.30pm, before later declaring it a "riot."

According to police, a group of around 100 people gathered at the Portland Federal Courthouse last night.

It is not clear what the demonstration was for, or if there was a motive behind it – however, a flyer was left behind that read, "In Solidarity with BLM," and "No Streamers, No Megaphones, No Masters" was found at the scene, reports DailyMail.com.

Police said an investigation has been launched, although no arrests have been made.

Footage shows police moving in to break up the crowd as fireworks were set off in their direction.

A police spokesperson said: "A gathering in downtown Portland has devolved into a riot,' Portland Police tweeted at 11:37 p.m. local time.

"Participants have thrown multiple firebombs at officers and launched commercial grade fireworks at the Federal Courthouse and Justice Center."

The spokesperson continued: "At least two Molotov cocktail-style firebombs were thrown, and large, commercial grade aerial fireworks were launched at the Federal Courthouse and the Justice Center.

"Some individuals tried to use tools to break into the Justice Center at 1120 Southwest 3rd Avenue, but were not successful."

The statement added that some emergency workers had to be called from other incidents to attend to the violence.
