LaCorte News reported the following:

The Taliban's supposed expert on improvised explosive devices (IED) was reportedly killed when a bomb detonated in the Jawzjan province in Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported

The story: The 209th Shaheen Corps said in a statement that Qari Asadullah, an alleged IED expert for the Taliban, was killed in a botched attack in Khanqa district of Jawzjan while placing an explosive device on the side of the road aimed at security forces.

The Taliban are known for using IEDs as weapons to target security forces, but the majority of roadside bombs frequently affect civilian passers-by.

The Taliban have not commented on the incident.

And from Khaama:

An explosion in Jawzjan province killed the a key Taliban group member who was expert in improvised explosive devices.

The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said the incident took place in Khanqa district of Jawzjan.

The statement further added that Qari Asadullah, Taliban IED expert was placing a roadside bomb to target the security forces when the explosion took place.

The Taliban group has not commented regarding the incident so far.

Taliban militants frequently use improvised explosive devices as the weapon of their choice to target the security personnel.

However, the majority of roadside bombings inflict casualties on ordinary civilians. The roadside bombings also inflict casualties on Taliban mine planters.
