Lawsuit Claims Teacher ‘Manipulated’ Nine-Year-Old Girl Into Changing Gender, Led to Suicidal Thoughts

A disturbing lawsuit claims a New York teacher ‘manipulated’ a nine-year-old female student into changing her gender without her parents’ consent.

Debra Rosenquist, a teacher at Long Island’s Terryville Road Elementary School, allegedly gave the fifth grade girl male pronouns.

According to the lawsuit, Rosenquist starting calling her ‘Leo’ in October 2021 without the parents’ knowledge.

It took suicidal images drawn by the girl for the parents to find out about the teacher’s alleged actions, the lawsuit claims.

Superintendent Jennifer J. Quinn and the school’s principal Annemarie V. Sciove reportedly admitted they knew about the teacher’s actions.

Daily Mail provided details:

It was only months later in January 2022 – when the girl was caught drawing a picture of a suicidal girl with the words ‘I wanna kill myself’ – that her parents were informed that she was being called male pronouns in school.

Rosenquist also allegedly read from LGBT books that were not on the school district’s curriculum, and told her students to ‘try being gay’ even if they were not.

The child, whose identity is being protected, then met with a district psychologist – and she told her she was confused about her gender identity.

The new revelations shocked the child’s parents – who did welcome their pre-teen daughter exploring her identity – but believed she was being forced into doing so.

They said that had heard their child be called Leo by her friends before, but this was in ‘reference to the astrological sign’ and not in association with the male name.

It was then that the parents believed something was not right – and decided to look into Rosenquist. They found that on a day when the school asked pupils and teachers to wear blue in support of two police officers who were recently shot and killed, the teacher instead wore a Black Lives Matter t-shirt.

They also found that Rosenquist had allegedly been reported to the school district for physical abuse, but nothing was done about it because of her position as a tenured teacher.

Soon after, the child’s parents started speaking to other parents at the school.

The lawsuit states: “Rosenquist pursued her own agenda outside the curriculum, which included persuading her 5th-grade students to try ‘being gay’ or being another gender even when they were not. To further her agenda, Rosenquist read and provided her students graphic books about gender and sexuality which were not on the curriculum.”

Fox News also reported on the horrifying allegations:

The district admitted in a meeting with the parents “that they had no idea Rosenquist taught from a book about LGBTQ+ individuals that was not part of the curriculum and how detailed the book was about transitioning, surgery, and hormones.” One of the books Rosenquist used was “When Aidan Became a Brother,” the lawsuit said.

In the book, Aidan’s mother admits she made a mistake misgendering her son, saying, “When you were born, we didn’t know you were going to be our son. We made some mistakes, but you helped us fix them.”

The parents were supportive of supporting their child discovering their identity, but they did not believe their daughter expressed a desire to change her gender on her own. “[The parents] were incredibly concerned about the well-being of their 9-year-old daughter. They have and will always support [their child] but worried that [she] was being persuaded by Rosenquist to be transgender when she had not expressed any such inclination.”

“Debra Rosenquist manipulated a pre-teen female into changing her gender identity when the child did not feel any inclination to do so,” the parents’ attorney, Debra L. Wabnik, Esq., told Fox News. “The parents did not learn about what Rosenquist was forcing upon their daughter until it was discovered that the child had suicidal ideations.”

“The psychological and social damage Rosenquist caused this child and her family was immense. Incredibly, the District still has Rosenquist in the classroom where she can similarly harm other innocent children,” Wabnik added.
