Fetterman’s health has severely declined since he took office earlier this year.
Fetterman was rushed to the hospital earlier this month after feeling lightheaded during a Senate Democratic retreat.
“Initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke, but doctors are running more tests and John is remaining overnight for observation,” John Fetterman’s Communications Director, Joe Calvello, said.
Fetterman checked himself into a DC hospital the next week to “receive treatment for clinical depression,” according to his chief of staff.
John Fetterman Hospitalized For Clinical Depression
An updated report revealed the Senator’s condition could be worse than initially expected.
Fetterman will reportedly receive inpatient hospital care for “a few weeks.”
UPDATE: Duration of John Fetterman’s Clinical Depression Treatment Extended
Fetterman suffered a stroke in May 2022.
Yet, Democrats downplayed the severity of Fetterman’s health throughout the campaign.
How severe is Fetterman’s condition?
CNN suggested his stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center may be over a month and that he cannot care for himself.
A source familiar with the matter told CNN’s Manu Raju last week that it’s unclear how long Fetterman might stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He could potentially stay for a month or so, the source said, or he could leave sooner than that, or maybe a little later. It will take time for him to get the right medication he needs for his treatment, the source said.
There is no general rule about how long someone hospitalized with depression should stay in the hospital, according to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. Patients may stay a few days or as long as a few weeks.
“In someone who has pre-existing depression, it is possible that they may be more treatment resistant and have a history of failing medications. So as a result, they may require more aggressive treatment that can take several weeks and even into several months, depending on how they present,” said Dr. Daniel Bober, a psychiatrist in Hollywood, Florida.
“In someone who’s already had depression even before their stroke, this puts him at much greater risk and requires much more aggressive treatment,” Bober said.
Fetterman’s symptoms for depression included weight loss and loss of appetite, a source familiar with the matter said. He was not suicidal, the source said. His lack of eating and drinking water contributed to lightheadedness. He was hospitalized earlier this month in Washington, DC, after feeling lightheaded. His office said he had not had another stroke.
“Generally, the reason that someone presents to a hospital for a psychiatric condition like depression is because either they are acutely suicidal or they have been deemed unable to take care of themselves. And when I say unable to take care of themselves, I mean, their basic needs – food, hydration, hygiene – are all things that they’re required to do on a daily basis, and they are unable to do this due to the severity of their depression,” Bober said.
Rumors are circulating that Fetterman is essentially "brain dead" and it’s being hidden “because keeping him in office until August 18th avoids a special election.”
Democrats Hiding That John Fetterman is “Brain Dead” to Prevent Special Election?
WeLoveTrump cannot confirm this rumor.
John Cardillo shared the rumblings and demanded an investigation.
Being told that Fetterman is essentially brain dead and it’s being hidden because keeping him in office until August 18th avoids a special election which Republicans would most certainly win.
This must be investigated.

The Washington County Republican Party issued this statement:
Because of the now confirmed lies that were told during the 2022 general election regarding the health of Senator John Fetterman, as well as the threats made against a journalist who interviewed him, the Washington County Republican Party refuses to take assurances from the Office of the Senator or Democrat operatives that Fetterman is able to carry out his duties as Senator. As such, we call upon Senator Fetterman to appear on camera to show us he is alive and well, and if he is unable to do so, we call upon our elected Representatives in Washington, Senator Casey and Congressman Reschenthaler, to intervene immediately.
Ultimately, if Fetterman is unable or unwilling to carry out his duties as a United States Senator, then we ask for his resignation and call for a special election to be held this year; no more lies or games.
Joe Calvello issued this statement Monday regarding the Senator's health condition:
"We don’t have a lot to update folks with since there’s no real news to report except that John is doing well, working with the wonderful doctors, and remains on a path to recovery.
John is visiting with staff and family daily, and his staff are keeping him updated on Senate business and news. Our team is moving full speed ahead and working tirelessly for the people of Pennsylvania. Just last week we opened a new office in Erie and will be opening more.
We understand the intense interest in John’s status and especially appreciate the flood of well-wishes. However, as we have said this will be a weeks-long process and while we will be sure to keep folks updated as it progresses, this is all there is to give by way of an update."
