House Republicans are making good on their promise to prioritize pro-life causes with their new majority on Capitol Hill. Earlier this week, they passed a bill aimed at condemning attacks on crisis pregnancy centers and providing medical care for babies born after botched abortions.
While those might sound like commonsense approaches that any rational person could support, Democrats naturally described the legislation as evidence that the GOP is filled with extremists.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) went even further than most, as the Daily Caller reported:
“They made it clear they’re going to do everything possible to impose a nationwide ban on abortion, detonate reproductive freedom, criminalize abortion care and impose government mandated pregnancies on the American people. That’s what their legislation yesterday was all about,” Jeffries claimed.
Other Democrats took umbrage with the legislation, with New York Rep. Jerry Nadler saying the problem with the second piece of legislation is that babies who survive an abortion receive treatment “which may not be appropriate.”
Of course, the absurdity of the notion that Republicans are somehow forcing Americans to get pregnant wasn’t lost on Twitter critics far and wide.

In reality, Democrats simply seem determined to permit doctors and mothers to kill babies after birth.
Here’s how Life News described the bill that has the left up in arms:
House Republicans have introduced new legislation that would stop infanticide and protect babies who survive abortion. This is a similar measure to one that pro-abortion former Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked 80 times when she ran the House.
It would also penalize doctors who allow such infants to die or who intentionally kill a newborn following a failed abortion.
Representative Ann Wagner (R-MO) announced the reintroduction of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) joining as original cosponsors. The Born-Alive Act ensures that infants born alive after an attempted abortion receive the same protection of law and degree of care as any newborn.
