NYC Unveils ‘Single Adult Men’ Migrant Shelter Featuring TVs, Xboxes, 24/7 Food & Drink

New York City has unveiled a new migrant shelter for ‘single adult men’ that will pamper arrivals with three meals per day, TVs, Xboxes, and fluff-and-fold laundry service.

The Randall’s Island Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Center is set to temporarily house up to 500 single men bused from southern border states.

The initial wave of migrants was scheduled to arrive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.

“This is a place people can come, rest, relax and kick their feet up after the journey they have been on,” Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol told reporters at the facility on Randall’s Island.

While New York’s local homeless population rises, illegal migrants are given the five-star resort treatment.

NYC embodies the Democrat ‘America Last’ agenda.

The New York Post reported:

More than 60 dining tables are set up in a tent that also houses a recreation room with two popcorn machines, TVs, Xbox game consoles, ping-pong and foosball tables, board games and a bank of 12 phones that can be used to make international calls.

The entire site is also equipped with Wi-Fi, with heating and cooling units expected to keep the temperature in all three tents around 70 degrees.

Adams skipped Tuesday’s news conference, with City Hall later saying he did so because he’d toured the facility on Monday night.

Adams initially announced on Sept. 22 that the tent city would be built in the Orchard Beach parking lot in the Bronx.

But with construction nearly complete, that site was abandoned after heavy rains flooded the area, and Adams said Oct. 3 that the facility was being relocated to the parking lot at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

Iscol revealed a partial price tag on Tuesday, saying, “It cost about $325,000 to demobilize from Orchard Beach and another $325,000 to set up this facility.”

“The rest of the costs we’re still analyzing — we don’t know how many people we will be caring for and a lot of the costs are variable, so many of those ongoing costs we’re now figuring out,” he added.

The Daily Wire added:

“The meals are all culturally appropriate — it is South American fare,” Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol told reporters on Wednesday.

Other assistance at the new facility includes laundry services, showers, and lockers for migrants to store personal items. Bus services are also expected at the location, with 24-hour security provided.

The new amenities may make it difficult to encourage some of the migrant men to leave, with some speculating that the guests could be living better than many legal residents in New York City.

Democrat Mayor Eric Adams, who declared a state of emergency due to the arrival of migrants, ordered the establishment of the site.

As of last week, the city claims at least 18,600 asylum seekers have entered the city.

The Randall’s Island site is one of many locations NYC is housing illegal migrants.

In addition, a temporary humanitarian relief center has been set up at the Row NYC Hotel in midtown Manhattan to initially house 200 families, potentially serving additional families in the weeks ahead. A statement by Adam last week also noted that 46 hotels citywide have served as emergency shelters.

New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul has activated National Guard members to help staff the new location. A unit of 100 reservists was mobilized for deployment earlier this month.

“The National Guard will provide logistical and operational support to the city’s relief center once it is ready to open,” Hochul spokesman Avi Small said, according to reporting by the New York Post.

Norwegian Cruise Line confirmed earlier this month that the company has been in discussions with New York City to house migrants relocating to the city, though no official decision has yet been made.

“The chartering of cruise ships to companies, government entities and other organizations for various uses is a standard business practice across our industry,” a spokesperson for the Norwegian Cruise Line said.

“While we can confirm that New York City has approached us about a potential charter of a cruise vessel, no agreement has been reached and we cannot speculate about the outcome of any ongoing business discussions,” the spokesperson added.
