Moderna Wants to Inject mRNA Into Your Heart After Suffering a Heart Attack

Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel joined Sky News Australia for an interview about the latest technology and research within the company.

In the short clip posted below, the interviewer noted that Moderna could have collapsed without the emergence of COVID-19.

“Moderna, before COVID, could very well have collapsed and disappeared. All that technology could have disappeared simply because there might not have been the venture capital out there that was prepared to keep backing you,” the interviewer stated.

“We raised three billion USD to get the technology to this point when the pandemic happened,” Bancel responded.

How convenient?

Bancel continues to explain the uses of mRNA technology.

“We’ve always thought that this information molecule, the mRNA, could be a very powerful medicine that we inject in your body so you make your own drug,” Bancel said.

Bancel said Moderna has “exciting” programs in cancer, rare genetic diseases, and cardiology.

“We are now in a super exciting program where we inject mRNA in people’s heart after a heart attack to grow back new blood vessels and re-vascularize the heart,” Bancel explained.

“It’s like science fiction medicine but that’s what is very exciting to me.”

The interviewer emphasized that the COVID-19 injection is Moderna’s only commercial product.

“The irony of COVID is that is really has in some ways allowed you to go and develop these other areas because of the revenues that came through the door,” the interviewer said.

“You’re 100% right,” Bancel replied.

In an interview with Yahoo Finance, Dr. Burton said the risk of myocarditis could have to do with an interaction with the spike protein — which plays a role in the basis of all Covid vaccines — and heart muscle cells.
