A Saskatchewan physician unexpectedly died last weekend.
Dr. Shahriar Jalali Mazlouman, who had worked in Melville, Yorkton and Ituna, died on July 23, according to a news release from the SHA.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and Emmanuel Health are mourning the loss of Dr. Shahriar Jalali Mazlouman, a family physician from Melville who unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, July 23. The SHA and Emmanuel Health would like to take this opportunity to express sincere condolences to Dr. Mazlouman’s family, physician colleagues and friends, and all of the staff members he has worked with in Melville, Yorkton and Ituna.
“On behalf of the SHA , I would like to express our profound sadness at the passing of our friend and colleague,” stated Dr. Johann Roodt, Interim Physician Executive, Integrated Rural Health. “Dr. Mazlouman was dedicated and caring, top of his class, intelligent, hard-working, and a passionate physician. There are not enough words to describe this incredible young man. His sudden passing is deeply felt by all who knew him and the communities he served in. His memory will be forever etched in our hearts and minds. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences to the friends, family, and colleagues of Dr. Mazlouman and the communities of Melville, Yorkton, and Ituna.”

Dr. Mazlouman has been practicing as a family physician at the Melville Medical Clinic since July 2021. He completed his Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment (SIPPA) placement in Yorkton and continued to provide ER coverage at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre emergency room as well as providing physician services in Ituna one day per week.

As a result, some health care services in Melville may experience temporary disruptions. The SHA said it is working with the colleagues of Dr. Mazlouman to meet the needs of his patients.
“Dr. Mazlouman’s patients can expect notification about the cancellation and rescheduling of appointments over the coming weeks,” the SHA said in the release.
Additionally, emergency room services at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville may also see temporary disruptions in the coming weeks, as the SHA reschedules coverage.
Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said there might be disruptions to the emergency room, as they work to reschedule and cover shifts of Dr. Shahriar Jalali Mazlouman.
