Steve Bannon Turns The Tables, Subpoenas Nancy Pelosi!

Steve Bannon is fighting back against the democrats over his criminal contempt case.

He’s issued subpoenas to Nancy Pelosi, as well as several members of the House J6 committee to testify in court for his case.

Bannon’s defense hopes the decision will compel the handover of documents and testimony that may help build his defense.

A total of 16 lawmakers and congressional staffers have been sent subpoenas to testify during the trial next month.

Aside from House speaker Nancy Pelosi, subpoenas were issued to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Rep. Jim Clyburn.

Steve Bannon, set to go to trial next month for defying a congressional subpoena, has subpoenaed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and members of the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection as he builds his defense.

Bannon, a conservative firebrand who previously served as former President Donald Trump’s chief strategist and senior counselor, was charged with two counts of contempt of Congress in November 2021 after refusing to testify and produce documents. He has pleaded not guilty.

Last week, Bannon’s legal team subpoenaed 16 lawmakers and congressional staffers to testify at the July trial and produce documents, according to one of Bannon’s attorneys and copies of the subpoenas provided to CNN. The subpoenas were aimed at all nine members of the select committee, three committee staffers and General Counsel for the House of Representatives Douglas Letter. Bannon also subpoenaed House Democratic leadership, including Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Rep. Jim Clyburn.

The push comes ahead of a July trial for Bannon, who was indicted for contempt of Congress after refusing to testify about his own conversations with the former president ahead of the attack on the Capitol.

Experts said efforts to compel members of Congress to testify are unlikely to succeed.

The legal move, first reported by CNN, also shows Bannon’s and other Trump associates’ interest in counterprogramming the committee’s investigation ahead of the June 9 start to public hearings.

It seems like Bannon’s strategy is to turn the democrats’ own game against them.
