North Wales Footballer Suddenly Dies at Age 16

Colwyn Bay FC recently announced that their under-16 academy goalkeeper passed away.

Teenager Elgan Jones “suddenly passed away earlier today (March 15)” the club said in an online tribute.

Colwyn Bay FC posted a tribute on their Facebook and Twitter pages that read:

“It is with extreme sadness that we announce that Colwyn Bay under-16 academy goalkeeper Elgan Jones suddenly passed away earlier today.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all Elgan’s family, friends, team mates and coaches. As a club we will do all we can to help and support them all.”

North Wales Pioneer noted the social media tributes that poured in for Elgan:

Tributes poured out from members of the public across social media, with fans and clubs alike sharing their condolences for the tragic loss.

Bill Abbott said: “I’m shocked to hear this news, Elgan was a valuable member of Bangor City under 16s until recently and the nicest of lads. Condolences to Wyn and family at this sad time. RIP Elgan.”

Alison Bishop wrote: “Such tragic news for someone so young from an U16 academy goalie mum. My thoughts are with the family.”

The tragic loss of this young footballer is a heartbreaking reminder of several teenage basketball players to suddenly pass away in the United States.
