30-Year-Old Algerian Footballer Sofiane Lokar Dies of Heart Attack During Match

Last night, I reported on the tragic death of 23-year-old Croatian footballer Marin Cacic. The young player passed away on December 23rd after suddenly collapsing on the pitch during training. Cacic went into a coma, and the hospital staff couldn’t save his life. 

In Algeria, a young footballer has lost his life due to a cardiac-related event. 30-year-old Sofiane Lokar, captain of the Algerian team Mouloudia Saida, passed away on Saturday after a heart attack.

Lokar suffered the heart attack during a match against Oran Association in the Algerian second division league. Sadly, the medical staff was unable to revive the young player.

Interia Sport provided additional details:

The game was interrupted with the away team leading 1-0. However, one of the players of this team suffered a heart attack, which ended in death.

This tragedy befell Captain Mouloudia Sofiane Lokar. The 30-year-old was quickly helped, but could not be saved.

The drama of this event is added by the fact that the footballer got married just a week ago. This event was traumatic for all participants of the meeting. The match was not finished, and the players lamented in the dressing room.
