29-Year-Old Omani Footballer Mukhaled Al-Raqadi Dies After Suddenly Collapsing During Pre-Match Warmups

On December 22nd, Omani footballer Mukhaled Al-Raqadi suddenly collapsed during the warm-up for a domestic top-flight match.

The Muscat Club player suffered his collapse before a match against Al-Suwaiq in the Omantel Football League.

The 29-year-old defender, a member of the Oman national football team, was rushed to the hospital following his collapse.

Tragically, Al-Raqadi passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The sporting community in Oman is mourning the death of Mukhaled Al-Raqadi, who passed away on December 23 after reportedly suffering a heart attack during a warm-up for an Omani league match.

His club Muscat FC were to take on Suwaiq, but the player suffered an issue during the warm-ups and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he passed away shortly after arriving.

The COVID World shared a statement from Muscat Club:

“With faithful hearts accepting of God’s will, the board of directors of Muscat sports club and all its affiliates extend their sincere condolences to the family of Al-Raqadi.

We ask God to have mercy on him. To God we belong and to God we shall return.”

Al-Raqadi is one of several high-profile footballers to pass away this week due to sudden cardiac issues. Croatian Marin Cacic and Algerian Sofiane Lokar died after suffering cardiac-related events during training or a match.
