Some of the children face critical injuries and are in a fight for their life.
"The injuries will go well beyond the physical and will take time to heal," the hospital's chief medical officer says.

Tragically, at least one confirmed victim of the attack was a child.
The media blackout on Waukesha was unable to overcome the open court proceedings. 62 people are injured, 6 people are dead. One of the deceased is a child. pic.twitter.com/WOh4jYR57I

As multiple children face critical injuries, local outlets indicate the Children’s hospital where they were taken is struggling to care for them.
The difficulties stem from staffing shortages caused by the COVID-19 jab mandate at Children’s Wisconsin – Milwaukee Hospital.
Nurses and officials at the Children’s hospital where all the kids injured in the horrific Waukesha car attack were taken have revealed that treatment is being hampered by a staff shortage brought on by the COVID vaccine mandate.https://t.co/J5bTfO7E3g

EXCLUSIVE: Wisconsin's largest children's hospital is struggling to care for sudden influx of young victims of the Waukesha Christmas parade attack, and a big reason is the hospital's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, which prompted mass resignations. https://t.co/dP3U7Uk6b8

According to WISN News Talk 1130:
18 children were brought to the Children’s Wisconsin Milwaukee Hospital with injuries suffered when a driver plowed into parade-goers Sunday afternoon. One of those children was among the six people killed when he succumbed to his injuries Tuesday afternoon. Several of the young victims remain in critical or serious condition, and sources say the hospital simply did not have enough nurses or support staff to adequately handle the sudden rush.
“It was a nightmare,” said one nurse, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she is not authorized to speak on the record. “We just don’t have enough people and [supervisors] were frantically calling in everyone they could, but it wasn’t enough. We are taking care of everyone the best we can, but it’s hard.”
A high-ranking official at Children’s, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the hospital currently has hundreds of open positions and attributes much of the staffing shortage to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
The Children’s Wisconsin – Milwaukee Hospital currently has 238 open positions and nearly 450 across all of its campuses.
Children’s Wisconsin issued a COVID-19 jab mandate for employees with a November 15th deadline to be fully vaccinated against the virus.
WISN noted the hospital’s jubilance of the compliant medical staff:
“Almost all Children’s Wisconsin doctors have been vaccinated for COVID-19, demonstrating the confidence some of the world’s best doctors have in the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine,” Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mike Gutzeit said in a news release announcing the mandate. “We are thankful for their example and will continue to lean into their expertise and leadership as we engage with team members who are not yet vaccinated.”
However, reports from The MacIver Institute indicated that 70% of religious exemption requests were denied:
Staff at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin say that healthcare system is also suffering from staff shortages, and that the vaccine mandate will only make things worse.
This month, Children’s closed its clinic in Delafield through the end of December due to staff shortages, according to an email sent to staff on Oct. 14.
Religious and medical exemption requests were due on Sep. 15th. Inside sources say 70% of them were denied.
As of Oct. 25th, the health system said it was approaching 90% compliance from staff with the mandate.
One source stated bluntly, “This is because of the mandate.”
The source noted people quit due to denial of their religious exemptions or didn’t bother applying for one. They simply searched for employment elsewhere.
Summit News mentioned:
The report also notes that the President and CEO of the hospital are working the emergency floor because of the shortages, and that $1000 bonuses are being offered currently with Thanksgiving holiday weekend bonuses of $4,500 being offered.
While nursing shortages aren’t unheard of, Children’s Wisconsin sources note the primary factor for the current dilemma is the COVID-19 jab mandate.
From WISN:
But the major factor, multiple Children’s sources say, has been the vaccine mandate, as it has caused a sudden and dramatic decrease in staff levels.
“[Administrators] have been touting the fact that we have 90 percent compliance with the mandate,” one source said, “but that means that we have lost 10 percent of our workers who didn’t comply.”
