Lt. Col Stuart Scheller Is Free, But He Isn’t Out Of Hot Water Just Yet

Lt. Col. Scheller surprised everyone when he outright rejected President Trump’s help.

He made headlines when he spoke truth to power, and was locked up for it. Authorities cited concern for his personal safety at the time, and claim that he was detained over the status of his mental health.

It was later revealed that Lt.Col. Scheller was in fact jailed for reasons relating to the violation of a gag order and his online posting.

According to the latest reports, Lt. Col. Scheller is free, but he still faces charges.

Lt. Col. Scheller has been freed, but could face potential charges according to The Epoch Times:

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller has been freed from pretrial detention, but could still face charges for criticizing senior military officials over the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan, The Epoch Times has learned.

Scheller was scheduled for a pretrial confinement initial review hearing Tuesday. Military officials planned to conduct the hearing in secret, sparking anger from some media outlets and members of the public.

Washington Examiner provides an update stating that the charges were in fact filed against Lt. Col. Scheller:

Scheller, who is a 17-year infantry officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been accused of violating the following Uniform Code of Military Justice regulations:

Article 88 (contempt toward officials), Article 89 (Disrespect toward superior commissioned officers), Article 90 (willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer), Article 92 (Dereliction in the performance of duties), Article 92 (Failure to obey order or regulation), and Article 133 (Conduct unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman).

There is no hearing scheduled at this time regarding the charges against Scheller, who gained notoriety for criticizing U.S. military leaders for the execution of the Afghanistan withdrawal . 

Scheller had been in the brig awaiting the unscheduled hearing, but he was released Tuesday .
