Ignoring Science, CDC Says Kids Must Mask Up While Outdoors at Summer Camp

I live in a mask-happy state filled with mask-holes determined to make the youngest of children ‘mask up for the greater good’.

Yet, I would never wear a mask outdoors, let alone make my children. Fresh air and vitamin D are healthy for the immune system.

Plus, we learned that covid has a low rate of transmission outdoors and has a low risk of serious illness in children.

Why, then, is the CDC advising that kids at summer camps be masked outdoors in 90-degree weather?

This new recommendation says kids as young as 2 should be masked up at all times while at summer camp regardless of vaccination status.

It sure looks like the CDC is bullying children, making me want to scream, “Pick on somebody your own size!”

Here is a clip from the Today Show where Fauci is saying the CDC’s new recommendations aren’t ‘excessive,’ just conservative:

Savannah Guthrie, a known leftist from the Today Show, even speaks up with concern for her own kids running around in masks in 90-degree heat.

Fraudci responds that they will keep ‘re-evaluating’ the guidelines, in an endless cycle of the CDC pretending to hear our concerns.

Here is what Twitter has to say about kids masking up in the summer heat:

And as one Twiter user points out, this new guideline is hardly inclusive, forgetting about the special needs children who cannot tolerate masks:

Of course, it’s easy to say don’t send your kids to camp, but some kids need extra stimulation during the summer to not regress on skills learned.

And, all children need FRESH air, not air through a mask!

Fox News has more on the story:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) coronavirus guidance for summer camps currently recommends that even while outdoors masks be worn by everyone over age 2 regardless of vaccination status and that campers maintain three feet of distance, which Dr. Anthony Fauci on Wednesday acknowledged “looks a bit strict.”

“I wouldn’t call [the guidelines] excessive, Savannah, but they certainly are conservative,” Fauci, President Biden’s chief medical adviser, told TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie. “I think what you’re going to start to see is really in real-time continually reevaluating that for its practicality. Because you’re right, people look at that and they say, ‘Well is that being a little bit too far right now.'”

Last week, the agency dropped some restrictions for vaccinated and unvaccinated people, including wearing masks while walking, running or biking outdoors with members of the same household, and attending small, outdoor gatherings with fully vaccinated family and friends. Fully vaccinated individuals can now also safely attend a small outdoor gathering with others who are unvaccinated, and dine at outdoor restaurants with friends from multiple households.

In announcing the update, the CDC’s director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, said the decision was made based on science, which reflects low risk of transmission of the virus while outdoors. Critics of the current guidelines for outdoors have questioned why children, who are already at a lower risk of severe illness from coronavirus, are not being considered in the updated guidelines.

“The CDC recommendations for summer camps not only lack scientific backing but go against reliable data,” Fox News medical contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier, previously stated. “The CDC has consistently been three months behind the data with their recommendations and our children are suffering because of it. Outdoor transmission is negligible, especially among young children. Children wearing masks outside is futile and does little except hinder their development and make good optics for the mask mandate supporters.”

Don’t worry- if your kids are vaccinated, and between 12-15, they can remove their masks according to the new guidelines.

Did the CDC forget many states have been doing what they don’t recommend for a while now?

I may live in a mask-happy state, but I’ll continue to let my kids breathe fresh air and develop an actual immune system.

For all children’s health and well-being, we need to drop the draconian mask mandates and stand up for our nation’s children and their freedom.
