This guy sure loves military force.
Why do we need active duty troops to aid in administering vaccines? I know that the military is used in events of natural disaster, but come on, this is a bit much.
He couldn’t just rely on the volunteers, doctors, or off duty EMTs?
Seems to me like this guy wants an ample troop presence for everything he does.
He is slowly creeping with the whole military dictator thing, but everyone sees what he is doing here.
We don’t need a troop presence for every single little thing Joe.
Take a look:
Military.Com reported:
Biden announced that he is deploying an additional 4,000 active-duty troops to support vaccination efforts and will allow more people — such as medical students, veterinarians and dentists — to deliver shots. He is also directing more doses toward some 950 community health centers and up to 20,000 retail pharmacies, to make it easier for people to get vaccinated closer to their homes.
As supplies of the vaccines continue to increase, Biden announced that he will direct states and territories to make all adults eligible for vaccination by May 1. The U.S. is expecting delivery of enough doses for those 255 million adults by the end of that month, but the process of actually administering those doses will take time.
Even as he offers optimism, Biden made clear that the July 4 timetable requires cooperation from Americans to continue to wear face coverings, maintain social distancing and follow federal guidelines meant to slow the spread of the virus in the near term. He also called on them roll up their sleeves to get vaccinated as soon as they're eligible.
Becker News had more on the story:
The White House explains that the troops will support “Community Vaccination Centers.”
“The Administration will more than double the number of federally-run mass vaccination centers, run by FEMA, the U.S. military, and other federal agencies in partnership with states, to ensure that we reach the hardest-hit communities in this historic effort,” the announcement continued. “{Many of these sites will be the home base for mobile units that will travel into local communities to provide vaccines directly in underserved populations.”
“With these mobile clinics, we’ll work with states to make up to one-third of each site’s daily vaccinations available directly in the hardest-hit neighborhoods,” the statement went on. “Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, the Administration will also increase support for state and local-run community vaccination centers.
