Uh oh…..I sense some tension.
This may seem like a small thing, but I sense that some trouble might be brewing here. President Trump LOVES his brand, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
After all, he has earned it, but The GOP does not want to respect that. They keep on fundraising in his name, but without his consent.
This wouldn’t even be that big of a deal if they were extremely supportive to President Trump, but they aren’t, they are wishy washy.
One minute they’re in, and the next they’re out.
This unstable situation is flimsy at best, and this situation may lead to more trouble and tension between The 45th President of The United States, and The GOP establishment.
Take a look:
Politico had more on the story:
The Republican National Committee is denying a cease-and-desist demand from Donald Trump’s attorneys, who asked the party organization to stop using the former president’s name and likeness in fundraising appeals.
In a letter sent Monday afternoon to Trump attorney Alex Cannon, RNC chief counsel Justin Riemer asserted that the committee “has every right to refer to public figures as it engages in core, First Amendment-protected political speech, and it will continue to do so in pursuit of these common goals.”
The letter is a brush-back to the Trump team, which sent a March 5 request that the RNC “immediately cease and desist the unauthorized use of President Donald J. Trump’s name, image, and/or likeness in all fundraising, persuasion, and/or issue speech.”
Trump attorneys sent letters to a cadre of GOP committees asking them stop using Trump in fundraising appeals, including the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee. Other groups loosely affiliated with the party have also received notices.
The Washington Examiner had more details:
A senior GOP official dismissed the cease-and-desist letters.
“Trump's threats have no teeth,” he said. “What's he going to do? Sue the RNC?”
Trump’s businesses rely heavily on the use of his name, branding everything from Trump Steaks to Trump Ice Natural Spring Water, and the former president and his company have been assiduous in protecting it.
The work continued during his time in office. In 2017, it emerged that China was approving a slew of Trump trademarks covering everything from hotels and golf resorts to bodyguard and concierge services in a country famous for counterfeiting.
Even confidants and political allies have found themselves rapidly ditched if there were any suggestion they might be trying to profit off the Trump name.
