President Donald Trump lashed out at Goodyear Tires after a worker leaked an image showing that BLM gear was allowed, but MAGA was not.
Not a good move for business, it seems. Goodyear stock is crashing, fueled by the backlash received after mainstream news outlets started reporting on the story, reported by Fox Business.
Trump tweeted Wednesday morning: “Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES – They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less! (This is what the Radical Left Democrats do. Two can play the same game, and we have to start playing it now!).
See the tweet below as well as the photo that started the controversy:
ABC News reports:
The tweet comes after reports that a Topeka, Kansas, Goodyear plant showed a slide during a training that "Black Lives Matter" and LBGT pride apparel were "acceptable" as part of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company’s zero-tolerance policy and "Blue Lives Matter," "All Lives Matter," "MAGA Attire," and other political material were "unacceptable."
Goodyear responded to Trump on Twitter with a statement saying that "the visual in question was not created or distributed by Goodyear corporate, nor was it a part of a diversity training class."
"Yesterday, Goodyear became the focus of a conversation that created some misconceptions about our policies and our company," Goodyear tweeted. "Goodyear has always wholeheartedly supported both equality and law enforcement and will continue to do so."“If you can wear a Black Lives Matter hat you should be able to wear a Blue Lives Matter one too particularly when our police officers are targeted like they were in Dallas particularly,” [The White House Press Secretary Kayleigh] McEnany said.
Fox Business reports:
A Goodyear employee in Kansas is calling the company’s new zero-tolerance policy "discriminatory" after the company told workers that it is acceptable to wear attire supporting certain social and political causes like Black Lives Matter while labeling others like MAGA and Blue Lives Matter as unacceptable.
The photo shared to social media after a recent diversity training session at the plant in Topeka showed a Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company slide with two categories: Acceptable and Unacceptable, WIBW-TV first reported.
