It's official: this year's DNC is a disaster!
The ratings are 25% less compared to 2016's convention that nominated Hillary Clinton.
But…
The picture gets worse when you look at the major networks.
CBS, NBC, and ABC saw a 42 percent drop in viewership.
Yikes.
Ratings are a strong indication of the enthusiasm behind the party and the candidate.
While polls appear to show Joe Biden in the lead nationally, it is clear that the enthusiasm remains behind President Trump.
Just like in 2016, Trump is the underdog.
But all the signs that he will win are there… if you know where to look.
One of the biggest clues we have is the lack of enthusiasm among Democrats.
This is clear from the tanking DNC ratings:
Even the mainstream media is reporting that ratings have dropped.
But the headlines are claiming that the DNC ratings dropped 25 percent.
It's not until you get deeper into the articles that you realize the TRUE situation is much worse for Democrats.
According to the New York Post:
Networks CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox News, MSNBC and CNN averaged 18.68 million viewers during the overlapping hour of coverage beginning at 10 p.m. Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a 28-percent plunge from the opening night of the 2016 DNC.
A dip wasn’t unexpected, as more and more viewers tune in through streaming services and mobile devices, which are not factored into traditional TV ratings.
Aside from a rousing speech by former first lady Michelle Obama endorsing presumptive candidate Joe Biden, the night was also short on instant must-see moments from conventions past, as most remarks were pre-taped with the event held virtually due to the coronavirus.
The broadcast networks — CBS, NBC and ABC — took the biggest hit, with a 42-percent decline in viewers from 2016.
The three cable news networks fared better, but still saw a 16-percent drop in viewership from 2016, the report said.
The first night of the virtual 2020 Democratic National Convention was largely a snoozefest and that was reflected in its dismal TV ratings, which tanked compared to the opening festivities of 2016.Among the six, MSNBC drew the most eyes during the 10 p.m. hour, with 5.1 million viewers.
Remember, many parts of the country are still shut down or only partially open due to COVID.
More people are behind screens than ever before.
But they're choosing NOT to tune into the convention!
Of course, such a ratings disaster was not a total surprise.
Those who knew what to look for could have predicted this.
Joe Concha, who writes for The Hill, predicted this ratings drop before it happened.
According to Fox News:
The Hill's media reporter Joe Concha slammed the first night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention as the "most tedious" and "cheesy political theater" he had ever seen.
"I get that we're in a pandemic and it can't be like a normal convention but this made a PBS telethon look like New Year's Eve in Times Square," Concha told "Fox & Friends First" on Tuesday. "It was just beyond boring, for lack of a better term, and it just felt too homogenized. There didn't seem to be any authenticity to it."
"But don't take my word for it," Concha said, citing anti-Trump voices in the media who described it with words like cringey, sad, slow, phoney, amateur, robotic, boring and painful.
Former Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson tweeted: "I wanted to like. I really did, I promise I did."
Concha, noting an odd thing about the star of the night former first lady Michelle Obama's speech, said he believes ratings will drop this year compared to 2016 between 40% and 60% because "it's just not very compelling."
"You have the first African American first lady not mentioning even once the first woman of color in Kamala Harris being added to the ticket," he explained. "It appears that, according to several reports that you'll read, is that Michelle Obama recorded this more than one week ago, and I know she has a podcast but couldn't she have done this after Kamala Harris was chosen as Joe Biden's running mate because that's kind of a significant thing, right?"
On Monday, ahead of the DNC presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden sat down for an interview with rapper Cardi B for Elle magazine's September 2020 issue.
Biden told the "WAP" singer he supports the Green New Deal, Medicare for All and free college for families that make less than $125,000, which Concha says can only happen by raising taxes on all levels of income.
The American people will be able to see through this charade.
President Trump and the GOP will provide a stark contrast!
It is President Trump who has a vision for the future of this country!
We must vote for 4 more years... or face the threat of a Trojan Horse named Joe Biden.
