FBI Arrests Tennessee Democrat Senator Katrina Robinson for Embezzling Funds

Democrats were quick to impeach President Trump because they considered him “corrupt.”

Perhaps they should be taking a look in their own backyard!

A Democrat state senator from Tennessee, Katrina Robinson, swindled the state out of hundreds of thousands of dollards to pay for her lavish lifestyle.

Among many things, she paid for her wedding and expensive handbags, all on the taxpayers dime!

The New York Post reports on the story:

A Tennessee state senator was charged with swindling $600,000 in federal funds to pay for her wedding and finance a lavish lifestyle, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday.

From 2015 to 2019, state Sen. Katrina Robinson is accused of stealing the money that was granted to The Healthcare Institute — a company she directed, according to prosecutors.

In addition to covering her wedding costs, Robinson, a Democrat from a Memphis district elected in 2018, is charged with using the funds to pay for her honeymoon and pay legal fees for her divorce, the feds charge.

With the stolen money the lawmaker also paid for her daughter’s 2016 Jeep Renegade, home improvements, a $500 Louis Vuitton handbag and invested in a snow cone business run by her children, prosecutors and the FBI said.

Robinson was charged with theft, embezzlement and wire fraud.

Despite the charges, she said she will continue to serve in the state legislature “with the same integrity, the same passion that I’ve demonstrated since you’ve elected me to this office.”

The fact that she plans to continue to serve in the state senate is a slap in the face to the citizens of Tennessee.

If Democrats had any integrity, they would be calling for her removal from the senate.

Meanwhile, WKRN news reports that some nursing students in Tennessee are now wondering if they were denied scholarship money for school because Robinson had stolen the money:

Amidst a federal probe into the nurse training school Sen. Katrina Robinson started, some former students are wondering if the grant money the senator allegedly spent on herself was really meant to help them.

A person who says she was a former student at the Healthcare Institute contacted WREG after hearing about the indictment, asking if that grant money was supposed to help students like herself who had been promised a scholarship.

The student has chosen to remain anonymous.

“We inquired, and they said you will be able to get scholarships up to $6,000 to $6,500, and the rest will be out of pocket. But we ended up having to pay the whole $10,000,” the student said.

The indictment says Robinson received more than $2 million in grant money between 2015 and 2019 to train certified nursing assistants and provide scholarships to low income individuals to complete the program.

But, investigators say Robinson spent hundreds of thousands on her personal debt, travel, clothes, cars, and her family.

According to court records, in December 2016 an anonymous person called the Department of Health and Human Services.

That person said Robinson bought a $550 Louis Vuitton handbag from them with the Healthcare Institute funds.

Investigators began looking at bank records from the school and found a pattern of federal grant funds deposited into the school’s Pinnacle bank account transferred into the schools’ Regions account and co-mingled with personal expenses.

About six doors down from the Healthcare Institute is another business Robinson is said to own. Investigators say she funded it with grant money.
