Wajngarten tested positive for the coronavirus, though he is waiting for a second test result to confirm the diagnosis.
So far, there are a total of 1,300 cases of coronavirus in the United States, impacting the country from coast to coast.
CNBC has more on Wajngarten's encounter with both Trump and Pence:
A Brazilian official who met and dined with President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to media reports Thursday — but Trump said he’s “not concerned.”
The official, Fabio Wajngarten, posted an Instagram image of him posing with Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, who is leading the White House’s coronavirus task force. It was not clear when that photo was taken, or by whom; it was posted on Wajngarten’s account four days ago, according to Instagram.
“I did hear something about that,” Trump told reporters Thursday, when asked about the matter. “We had dinner together in Florida at Mar-a-Lago with the entire delegation. I don’t know, if the press [said he was there, then] he was there.”
Trump appeared to shift his focus to Brazil’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, as he continued his response.
“But we did nothing very unusual. We sat next to each other for a period of time, had a great conversation. He’s doing a terrific job in Brazil, and we’ll find out what happens. I guess they’re being tested right now?” Trump said. Bolsonaro was also present at Mar-a-Lago days earlier, according to the reports.
Pressed for comment on the reports, Trump added: “Let’s put it this way, I’m not concerned.”
Wajngarten is Bolsonaro’s press secretary.
Trump is famously known to frequently use hand sanitizer after shaking hands or when traveling to a new location.
In fact, Trump has previously been called a "germaphobe," so we're sure he's taken every precaution possible to keep himself as well as the West Wing safe.
Trump is following the advice of the White House physician.
This isn't the first time he's come in close contact with someone later diagnosed with the coronavirus.
At CPAC, many government officials came in contact with someone who tested positive for the virus -- and Trump later came in contact with those who had met the man.
However, Trump says that he is not worries.
According to The Hill, Trump is in good spirits and isn't concerned:
President Trump said Thursday he isn't concerned by reports that an aide to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro who was part of a delegation that met with Trump in Florida over the weekend tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
“Let’s put it this way, I’m not concerned,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when asked about the developments on Thursday during a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.
Just before Trump’s meeting with Varadkar, news surfaced that a press aide to Bolsonaro had tested positive for the coronavirus and that the Brazilian leader is now being monitored and tested. The press aide participated in meetings with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago beach club in Palm Beach, Fla., on Saturday.
Trump said Thursday that he knew of the reports but that he wasn’t alarmed.
“I did hear something about that. We had dinner together in Florida at Mar-a-Lago with the entire delegation,” Trump said. “I don’t know if the press aide was there. If he was there, he was there. But, we did nothing very unusual. We sat next to each other for a period of time, had a great conversation.”
“We’ll find out what happens,” Trump said.
While the media fans the flames of hysteria, we thank President Trump for setting an example to remain calm and to keep a level head!
Like the president, we hope you remember to use hand sanitizer and to wash your hands whenever possible.
