James Carville is credited with famously saying “It’s the economy, stupid!” when asked what the most important issue would be in the upcoming election.
The implication being that people will almost always vote with their wallets as issue #1.
I’m guessing the Democrats would like to ignore that one right about now, because President Trump is overseeing one of the most successful economies in recent memory.
After Obama told us the jobs were all gone and they’re not coming back (“what does he have, a magic wand?”), America is once again thriving.
For the past decade, I could feel the economy stalling out.
Stores were dead.
The mall was dead.
People were NOT buying things, they were just trying to stay afloat.
But this year?
This year is totally different.
The malls are packed, and feel just like they did 10-15 years ago!
And even people who have been critical of President Trump in the past — like Pierce Brosnan — are starting to admit Trump is doing a great job and deserves credit.
Look:
From our friends over at The Hill:
Pierce Brosnan once suggested he might leave the United States because of President Trump, but he now acknowledges there’s been at least one bright spot during his presidency: the economy.
“I think what he’s done for the economy is very good,” Brosnan told ITK in a recent interview when asked where he stood as far as potentially fleeing the country.
“People are working, and that’s a step in the right direction,” the “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” star said.
“This country is part of my life,” said the Irish-born performer, who played James Bond in four of the franchise’s films. “I’m an American citizen. I love America and America’s been very good to me. And I want to see happiness come back into our society.”
Brosnan took a far different tone when talking about Trump last year during an interview with The Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine.
“That man has torn this country apart and you have to work out how much longer you can stay here,” Brosnan, 66, told the British publication.
Yet it was hardly all praise for the commander in chief in a Sunday interview. Brosnan, a longtime environmental activist, said Trump “has to pay attention to the climate change. He has to support the rallying call of the young people."
“He has to get out of the coal business, the oil business. It’s just devouring the Earth around us. And there are other ways. We’ve seen it from other societies, other cultures,” he said.
But Brosnan remained tight-lipped about who he might root for in the 2020 presidential election.
“I’m biding my time on that one,” he said. “We shall see.”
And from the Washington Times:
Actor Pierce Brosnan praised President Trump’s economic policy and for putting people back to work in a new interview Thursday.
The Irish-born James Bond star, who once openly toyed with moving back to Ireland over Mr. Trump’s presidency, told The Hill that he no longer holds those feelings and that he wants to stay and watch the country prosper.
“I think what he’s done for the economy is very good,” Mr. Brosnan said of Mr. Trump. “People are working, and that’s a step in the right direction.
“This country is part of my life,” he added. “I’m an American citizen. I love America and America’s been very good to me. And I want to see happiness come back into our society.”
Mr. Brosnan, an environmentalist, said he still hasn’t decided on who he’ll vote for in 2020 but that the president “has to pay attention to the climate change” in order to win over young people.
