DRAIN THE SWAMP: Ted Cruz Just Announced a Term Limits Bill That Would End His Own Career!

Integrity!

If you want to DRAIN THE SWAMP, we have to get rid of career politicians!

Donald Trump knows that and it seems Ted Cruz knows it too!

We can’t have people in their 70s and even 80s (Pelosi, Schumer, Grassley to name just a few) continuing to stick around!

Many companies force retirement in your 60s and for good reason.

Nancy Pelosi has been in Congress since 1981!

Our founding fathers never expected this to be a career opportunity…..they expected good citizens, leaders in their communities, to sacrifice some of their years to go serve in Congress.

But it’s gotten very twisted.

Send Nancy Pelosi a TRUCKLOAD of Bricks!

And now even at his own expense, Ted Cruz has introduced a Bill that would cap terms in Congress and would even end his time in the Senate after his current term expires.

Here’s the quick summary:

President Trump knew this was the answer years ago.

Here are more details from the Business Insider:

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz introduced a constitutional amendment Friday that would restrict senators to two six-year terms. If it's passed, it would limit Cruz's Senate career to its current term.

The amendment would also limit members of the House of Representatives to three two-year terms. It's cosponsored by Republican Sens. Marco Rubio, Mike Lee, and David Purdue.

Cruz just began his second consecutive term in the US Senate, after winning reelection in November 2018 over Democratic candidate Beto O'Rourke. He's set to end his term in 2025.

Currently, terms in both houses of Congress are unlimited, although there are limits to the number of terms members of Congress may have on committees. Cruz has been a longtime critic of the Constitution not including term limits. He introduced a similar bill a year ago, according to ABC News

"For too long, members of Congress have abused their power and ignored the will of the American people," Cruz told ABC. "Term limits on members of Congress offer a solution to the brokenness we see in Washington, D.C. It is long past time for Congress to hold itself accountable. I urge my colleagues to submit this constitutional amendment to the states for speedy ratification."

And from Fox News:

Two Republican lawmakers recently introduced a Constitutional amendment that would impose term limits on members of Congress.

The bill, proposed by Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Rep. Francis Rooney (Fla.), calls for a maximum of three two-year terms in the House and two six-year terms in the Senate.

According to Fox 59, the bill is co-sponsored by Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Mike Lee (R-Utah) and David Perdue (R-Ga.).

Rooney appeared on "Fox & Friends" Saturday and said that the proposal would help avoid "entrenched politicians" who are aligned with special interests.

"I would think 18 years is plenty of time to serve your country in Congress," he said.

Cruz took to Twitter on Friday to call for term limits as well, saying that they would "offer a solution to the brokenness" in Washington, D.C.

"Nobody wants career politicians, they want term limits," Rooney said, referencing a 2018 poll that found 82 percent of likely voters support Congressional term limits.

President Trump tweeted his support for terms limits last year, saying that he gave members of Congress with whom he discussed the topic his "full support."
