Oprah Winfrey was harshly criticized by a leading conservative pundit on Twitter after imploring the audience at the Golden Globes to speak “your truth.”
Oprah was talking about the left-wing media’s assault on the Trump presidency.
“We all know the press is under siege these days…what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have,” she said.
Popular conservative Ben Shapiro fought back in a tweet (view below), saying, “There is no such thing as ‘your truth.’ There is the truth and your opinion.”
The tweet reached almost 50,000+ likes.
Actually, Winfrey and Shapiro are disagreeing on an age-old philosophy problem. Can one person know what is exactly true, or does she rely on her "own" reality?
There may not be a correct answer. But maybe Shapiro brought up the issue for another reason.
Traditionally, conservatives have touted "objective" reality while liberals have argued that everyone's "own reality" is valid to them and deserves respect.
But have Democrats followed that maxim when calling millions of Trump supporters evil white-supremacists who don't deserve a voice?
The only "truth" Oprah cares about is HER truth. YOUR truth means very little to her...unless you work for CNN.
