I like to think I stay up on the news and know what’s going on.
Know all the key players.
After all, that is my job!
But every so often I run into a story and a person who has been around for a while and somehow I’ve just missed them.

That just happened today with a man named Simon Ateba.
This guy is a real hoot!
If you don’t know him either, Tucker gives a nice introduction:
"It's a shame and disgrace", says Tucker Carlson when commenting on the fact that Simon Ateba, a top reporter for Africa in Washington, is getting booted from the White House correspondents association.
He used to be one of the few people in the room asking real questions (which… pic.twitter.com/FIL10rbQob

As Tucker explains, Simon is a journalist and the White House correspondent for Today News Africa.
He has a White House press pass.
But he’s never called on.
Which led to this moment a few days ago:
BREAKING – DISGRACEFUL: @TheView attacks me. @JoyVBehar reads a post I never wrote. I have never written anything about a 'woman's fat ass! @Alyssafarah @sarahaines and Whoopi Goldberg berate me without checking my background. Only @sunny said something that was sensible. The “ladies” from The View were not happy with him, which also led to this clip below….and to Simon being forced to Tweet out a clarification:
“I never wrote anything about a woman’s fat ass!”
Watch:
I like @JoyVBehar of @TheView dislike her and then like her again. I watch her, vow never to watch her and watch her again. Then, yesterday, she said something really crazy about me talking about a woman's fat ass. As I was about to get upset, she said this. How do I respond?… pic.twitter.com/vqwihC2gd5

Here he is, just sitting there and never being called on:

Even Newsweek is covering the story:
Well, I had loved reading some stories in @Newsweek but I disagree with some aspects in this story. The real chaos is the assault on the First Amendment, not celebrating movie stars, what about the everyday American people? Do you understand why people https://t.co/IU96oxHtGW…

Here’s more, from Newsweek:
A light-hearted moment with the cast of Ted Lasso visiting the White House press briefing room got out of hand as a journalist repeatedly shouted “you’re making a mockery of the First Amendment.”
The clip of Jason Sudeikis and other members of the TV show’s cast stood behind White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre went viral, as they awkwardly waited for the journalist to stop shouting.
The man who shouted during the cast’s visit was Today News Africa’s chief White House correspondent Simon Ateba, a journalist who has featured frequently on Tucker Carlson Tonight in recent months. During the exchange, Ateba said he was aggrieved that he hadn’t been called upon to ask a question for seven months.
Ateba has spoken out against the media attention he’s been receiving for his outburst, saying he’s been “discriminated against.”
We’re keeping an eye on you Simon!
