Do you remember “To Catch a Predator” on NBC?

It was an iconic show where sick pedos got confronted by cameras.

And then it went away.

I don’t even think re-runs are on anymore.

Did we just figure out why?

I never knew this story, but watch this:

Reminds me a lot of this story:

Pedophile Judge Kills Himself Before Feds Arrest Him For Sexual Abuse Charges

A Maryland judge has killed himself after Federal agents surrounded his house to arrest him for child sexual abuse charges.

Judge Johnathan Newell who was a Circuit Court Judge for Caroline County, Maryland allegedly filmed young boys inside of his cabin while they were taking showers.

After a young boy found out that Newell had cameras in his showers, he reported it to his parents who then reported the crime to the police.

Shortly after police received the tip they questioned Newell at his home and law enforcements officers noticed when he excused himself from the questioning to “charge his phone” they noticed he ate a memory card that is believed to have incriminating evidence.

A later scan of Newell’s body showed he had particles of metallic in his body.

After the time of questioning, police were able to obtain the video camera in the cabin that had videos of young boys naked on it and also showed Newell in the video frame fixing the position of the camera time to time.

Newell was appointed as a Circuit Judge by the RINO Governor of Maryland Larry Hogan in 2016.

Yahoo News covered the story and shared these details:

A Maryland judge killed himself on Friday morning, just as the feds showed up at his Henderson home to arrest him in a child sex abuse case.

Caroline County Circuit Judge Jonathan Newell, 50, had been on a leave of absence since July after becoming ensnared in an investigation over allegations that he had a hidden camera that captured naked images of boys in his bathroom. When FBI agents showed up at his door Friday morning to arrest him on a federal criminal complaint, they found him “suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Friday. He was pronounced dead at 6:43 a.m.

According to a copy of the criminal complaint unsealed Friday, Maryland State Police investigators in July had responded to a call about a minor who found a video camera in the bathroom of Newell’s cabin in Fishing Creek, Maryland.

Investigators interviewed two boys, both minors, who said that they had “spent the night,” with Newell on July 22, when they allegedly discovered a hidden camera.

One of the boys told investigators that after undressing in the bathroom he found a camera that was on and facing the shower inside a small black crate on a shelf in the corner of the bathroom

After telling the other boy about the camera he had discovered, the two boys went on Newell’s boat and both told their parents about the camera in the bathroom, the documents state. Their parents subsequently contacted law enforcement.

While being interviewed by investigators, Newell allegedly chewed and swallowed a camera memory card, after asking to charge his phone and then appearing to reach under his bed and take an object in his fist that he then put in his mouth. A CT scan later showed he’d ingested a foreign, possibly metallic object, according to the complaint.

NBC News had more on the story:

A Maryland Eastern Shore judge who was about to be arrested at his home on federal charges of sexual exploitation of a child was found dead Friday, officials said.

FBI agents went to the residence of Caroline County Circuit Court Judge Jonathan Newell in Henderson, Maryland, early Friday.

“Upon entering the residence the agents found Newell suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” a joint statement from Acting Maryland U.S. Attorney Jonathan Lenzner and other officials said. “He was pronounced dead at 6:43 a.m. Maryland State Police will lead the investigation into the apparent suicide.”

According to a federal affidavit unsealed Friday, investigators from the Maryland State Police responded to a cabin in Fishing Creek, Maryland, on Hoopers Island on July 23 after a minor found a video camera in the bathroom, took photos of it with his phone and called his parents. Police arrived and interviewed two minors. One of the minors said the two had spent the night at the cabin, along with a man and four other boys.

Investigators interviewed Newell at the cabin the same day, according to the affidavit. The 50-year-old judge waived his Miranda rights and agreed to be interviewed. Newell told police that 10 “members” had access to the cabin who “come and go.” Newell also denied placing a camera in the bathroom, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Newell went to his bedroom after the interview to plug in his cell phone and make calls. Investigators observed him reaching under his bed and placing his fist up to his mouth. Investigators suspected that Newell had ingested evidence because a memory card from a box with camera equipment appeared to be missing. He was taken to a hospital for CT scans, which showed he had ingested a metallic object, the affidavit said.

Authorities executed search warrants at Newell’s cabin, truck, boat and office and seized numerous digital devices. Investigators found a hard drive in a safe at Newell’s residence that showed videos of boys showering, the affidavit said.
