Clapper Changes His Story About Biden Laptop

My, my, my….

Funny how time seems to change the truth when the left is caught lying.

James Clapper, former CIA director who spearheaded the letter calling the Hunter Biden laptop story Russian disinformation, is changing his tune.

The Gateway Pundit shared more on the story:

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) told Newsmax in November that Rep. Jim Jordan and the Judiciary Committee want to interview all 51 of the intelligence officials that signed the letter prior to the 2020 Election stating the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation.

Now the 51 are scared and walking back their lies about Hunter’s laptop.

James Clapper now says that he never suggested that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation.

Now (years later) he says it was all blown out of proportion – it was distorted by Politico.

But where did this sudden revelation come from and why now?

Could it be he’s feeling the heat?

An article by The Federalist reminds us how it all started…

The laptop lie began, as is often the case, with Adam Schiff, the California congressman who used the intelligence committee as a partisan disinfo clearinghouse. As soon as the story broke, Schiff claimed that “we know” — a phrase he used numerous times — that the emails had been planted by the Kremlin.

That’s when Natasha Bertrand, the dependable Dem dupe who had passed along so many other fake stories for the intel establishment, “reported” in Politico that more than 50 former senior intelligence officials had signed a letter asserting that the laptop “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

Of course, we knew this was a lie all along.

And sure enough, the truth came out.

But now they’re changing their story.

What a joke!

They knew exactly what they were doing.

The Washington Examiner shared more on the letter, the claim of “distortion,” and Clapper’s nonsense.

Clapper’s signature topped the list of prominent former government officials willing to stake their reputations on the infamous letter that was written to sow doubt about a story that, if it had not been suppressed, could arguably have changed the result of the 2020 presidential election.

“There was message distortion. All we were doing was raising a yellow flag that this could be Russian disinformation,” Clapper told Washington Post “fact checker” Glenn Kessler.

Moreover, Clapper claimed to be “unaware” of how Joe Biden had used the letter to dismiss concerns about his son’s business dealings during a presidential debate, according to Kessler. Are we to believe that Clapper somehow missed the debate or at least the part where Biden used the letter to successfully shield himself from Trump’s attacks on his family’s alleged pay-to-play scheme?

So, you’re telling me you didn’t think to mention this “distortion” when this looped on every news channel and social media platform?

To those of us not chugging the left’s kool-aid, we saw it for what it was.

A dirty Dem tactic to sway the vote and demonize Trump.

The Wallstreet Journal pointed out the obvious:

As blame-shifting goes, the press is usually a solid dumping spot. Yet in this case, the signers’ claims are laughable. Start with the partisan motivations. Mr. Clapper and John Brennan, President Obama’s director of the Central Intelligence Agency, were the most politicized officials to ever hold their posts, and were hip-deep in the 2016 Russia-collusion hoax. Most of the rest of the signers were Biden supporters or Never Trumpers.

No signers complained about the Politico letter after its publication. None corrected the record as dozens of outlets repeated the supposed distortion. No one said a word when Joe Biden, in a presidential debate and a CBS interview, used the letter to declare definitively that the laptop story was “disinformation from the Russians,” “a bunch of garbage,” a “Russian plan” and a “smear campaign.”

So… what is this?

A ridiculously long-delayed reaction? A complete mental blank? Or maybe just a good old-fashioned backpedal?

I’m going with that one.

The New York Post commented on the timing of Clapper’s revelation:

Clapper’s comments came 11 months after the Washington Post authenticated almost 22,000 emails from the laptop and determined that Hunter Biden and his uncle, first brother James Biden, were paid $4.8 million by a Chinese energy company and its executives.

They also followed the recent “Twitter Files” revelations about the FBI’s alleged role in suppressing the New York Post’s blockbuster scoops about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Earlier this month, the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees demanded interviews with Clapper and 11 other letter signers

Subpoenas will likely be issued if the ex-officials refuse to appear voluntarily, a GOP congressional source has said.

Looks like he’s just trying (and failing) to cover his backside.
