According to the The Post and Courier, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is about to “formally” announce her 2024 presidential bid.

The former U.N. ambassador reportedly will kick off her campaign in the GOP Primary on February 15th.

Her official announcement will reportedly come at an event in Charleston, South Carolina.

From The Post and Courier:

Cementing what has been in the works for months, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will formally announce she is running for president and will seek the Republican nomination for her party’s 2024 ticket, The Post and Courier has learned.

According to an invitation soon going out to her backers, Haley’s advertised “special announcement” will come Feb. 15 at the The Shed at the Charleston Visitor Center, a downtown gathering spot that could draw hundreds of supporters into the heart of the city’s tourism district.

Haley would be the first candidate to challenge Donald Trump in the 2024 GOP Primary.

AP reporter Meg Kinnard tweeted that “she’s running.”

“@NikkiHaley will announce campaign for president on Feb. 15 in Charleston, SC, according to a person familiar with the plans,” Kinnard elaborated.
“Supporters to receive email invite tomorrow.”

From AP:

On Wednesday, supporters of the former South Carolina governor will get an email invitation to a Feb. 15 launch event in Charleston, at which she plans to announce her campaign, according to a person familiar with the plans but not authorized to speak publicly about them.

News of Haley’s plans was first reported by The Post and Courier of Charleston.

Haley, 51, served as South Carolina’s governor for six years before serving as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations. When she enters the race, Haley will be the first contender to join the contest against her former boss, who is currently the sole Republican seeking his party’s 2024 nomination.

Trump was in South Carolina Saturday for the initial campaign swing of his 2024 campaign, standing alongside Gov. Henry McMaster — who served as Haley’s lieutenant governor — and several GOP members of the state’s delegation, part of his leadership team in the early-voting state.

The news doesn’t come as a surprise, considering that Haley has teased a presidential run for weeks.

“It is time for a new generation. It is time for more leadership. It is time for the fact that we really start to take our country back,” Haley said in a recent appearance on Hannity.

What are Haley’s chances against Donald Trump?

How long does she stay in the race?

That’s a better question.
