Latest Poll Shows Trump vs. Biden in 2024 Election, How Many Think Biden Shouldn’t Run

In the latest Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll, either Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis would defeat Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election.

The poll, which surveyed 2,050 registered voters, found that Trump would defeat Biden by five points.

The results showed 46% for Trump, 41% for Biden, and 13% unsure.

Biden would also lose to DeSantis, according the results.

Although, Biden’s defeat to DeSantis was a smaller margin amongst the surveyed individuals.

The poll showed 42% for DeSantis, 39% for Biden, and 18% undecided.

However, another interesting statistic from the survey was the number of respondents who think Joe Biden shouldn’t even run for president in 2024.

65% of respondents think Biden shouldn’t even consider running for re-election.

As the New York Post noted, it doesn’t appear the Biden declassified documents fiasco has impacted the polling results:

Biden’s still-unfolding classified documents scandal appeared to have little impact on this poll, which was conducted Jan. 18-19, less than a week after the Department of Justice named a special counsel to look into the matter. The same survey last month showed a 45%-40% Trump lead, while DeSantis led Biden by 4 points, 43%-39%, last month.

The poll also compared Trump and DeSantis to Kamala Harris.

Trump defeated Harris by a 48% to 40% margin.

DeSantis defeated Harris by a 43% to 40% margin.

Breitbart reported:

It is also worth noting that Trump is outperforming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in both hypothetical contests, against either Biden or Harris. While DeSantis still also leads both, he leads by less in each instance. Against Biden, DeSantis leads by just three percent—with 42 percent to Biden’s 39 percent and 18 percent undecided—and against Harris, DeSantis also only leads by three percent, 43 percent to 40 percent with 17 percent undecided.

In the GOP primary, Trump has a 20-percent lead over DeSantis as well, at 48 percent to DeSantis at 28 percent. No other candidate gets double digits in this survey, with former Vice President Mike Pence coming in at seven percent, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley at three percent, and Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Tim Scott (R-SC), and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo each at one percent, while two percent said someone else and six percent are unsure.

In a head-to-head matchup with DeSantis, Trump still leads by double digits—55 percent to 45 percent. In a head-to-head matchup between Trump and Scott, the senator from South Carolina, Trump leads by 50 points with a 75 percent to 25 percent advantage.

The latest figures show Trump as the clear Republican favorite to defeat the Democratic 2024 nominee, whether the candidate be Joe Biden or Kamala Harris.

It remains to be seen if any other candidates mentioned in the poll decide to run.

Donald Trump is the only GOP candidate in the poll who has declared a 2024 candidacy.

Decisions from Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz, Tim Scott, etc. remain unknown.
