Andy Cohen, The Vanderbilt and Don Lemon…NYE Update

In something of an annual tradition, we have to check in with CNN and find out how drunk Andy Cohen and his buddy The Vanderbilt got on live TV on New Year’s Eve…

It’s been getting worse and worse for a few years now.

Funny thing, I don’t ever remember Dick Clark downing shot after shot live on the air, do you?

Maybe that’s why he lived to his early 1000’s.

Meanwhile, Andy Cohen seemed to want to even out the numbers by making up for Dick Clark’s lost time.

But this year?

Not that I was watching, but checking in on Twitter the day after it appears as though CNN put Andy and Vanderbilt on restriction.

No drinks allowed this year.

Kevin Hart was not happy about it:

Instead of booze, it looks like they were forced to do mystery shots:

So classy.

Bring back Dick Clark!

Even Andy’s parents say they’re tuning out:

Perhaps they just didn’t want to watch garbage like this:

Boozing and talking about vasectomies live on NYE television.

Our world is getting worse by the day.

Here’s what a prior year looked like:

Don Lemon was also put on restriction, perhaps because he did this in a prior year:

Or perhaps because last year he had some lady say “no broke dick” 5 times live on the air.

Stay classy CNN.

Bring back Dick Clark!

Here’s Lemon telling us to “not get it twisted”:

And in case you missed it, here was Drunk Andy from the prior years:

Andy Cohen Goes On Drunk NYE Rant Torching Bill deBlasio

I don’t know whether to love this or be appalled by this or a little of all of the above.

I do know this: we didn’t know how good we had it all those years when a classy Dick Clark hosted the ball drop each year.

No drunken rants, no foul language, just class.

Now?

Well, now we have Andy Cohen and the Vanderbilt hosting the event and getting TANKED on the air.

It did lead to one incredible moment where Andy Cohen, clearly badly inebriated at this point, went on a drunken rant about outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Take a look:

Even the Vanderbilt looked VERY uncomfortable and tried to pull Cohen back to no avail.

But it was entertaining and can’t disagree with anything he says:

To be fair, Cohen announced ahead of time he planned to down a ton of drinks that evening:

I’m sure Betty is very happy with this drunk sendoff.

So how much did they have?

Well, thanks to @59Dallas we have a counter:

The most hilarious thing is this isn’t the first time Cohen has blasted deBlasio live on the air on New Years Eve.

Remember last year?

Here’s what the New York Post had to say:

An animated Andy Cohen did not mince words while telling viewers of CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live” coverage what he thought about former Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was replaced by Mayor Eric Adams after the ball dropped.

Cohen leaned into the camera and nearly needed to be held back by co-host Anderson Cooper as he unloaded on the ex-mayor — despite Cooper pleading with the Bravo personality not to “go on a rant.”

“Do his victory lap dance after four years as the crappiest term of the mayor of New York,” Cohen stammered, as an exasperated Cooper shook his head and repeated “wow” in disbelief after failing to change the subject.

“The only thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been. So, sayonara sucker!”

Cohen himself admitted today it got away from him a bit:

RIP Dick Clark, you have never been more missed than you are right now.

Hey Andy, if you really want to torch deBlasio, how about covering this story?
