Judge Refuses Former Democrat’s “Meritless” Attempt to Escape Federal Charges

Remember Andrew Gillum?

He was Ron Desantis’ opponent in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election.

After losing that race, Gillum was found drugged out in a motel room alongside a male escort.

He was later indicted on charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, and lying to the FBI.

Gillum made a pathetic attempt to get his case thrown out earlier this year by claiming that the charges were somehow racist.

U.S. District Judge Allen Winsor just hit Gillum with a serious dose of reality though.

Judge Winsor called Gillum’s last ditch attempt to escape corruption charges “meritless.”

Daily Wire reports on the disgraced former democrat candidate:

Florida Democrat Andrew Gillum, who lost a close 2018 election to Governor Ron DeSantis before being found in a motel unconscious with drugs and a male escort, will have to face trial on federal charges including fraud and lying to the FBI.

U.S. District Judge Allen Winsor declined last week to throw out the case against Gillum, calling his claims the charges were brought because he is black “meritless.”

Gillum and an associate were indicted earlier this year on charges including conspiracy, wire fraud, and making false statements to FBI agents. Prosecutors say the former Tallahassee mayor used campaign donations for personal expenses during his failed gubernatorial campaign.

Here’s more from the Washington Times:

Gillum had asked that the charges be dismissed because prosecutors delayed filing them and he was being prosecuted because of his race and politics. The judge who was appointed by former President Donald Trump said Gillum had offered nothing to support the claim of selective prosecution because of his race or politics.

Gillum, who is Black, was the Democratic gubernatorial nominee in 2018 and narrowly lost the race to Republican Ron DeSantis. After losing, Gillum was still seen as a rising star in Democratic politics and was hired as a CNN analyst.

Then, in March 2020, Gillum was found intoxicated and unconscious in a hotel room with two men, including one who works as a male escort. Two days later he entered a rehabilitation center, and later did a television interview in which he said he’s bisexual.

Floridians really dodged a bullet in 2018!
