Teacher to Spend Christmas in JAIL for Using Student’s “Wrong” Pronouns

The woke police are getting worse.

A teacher named Enoch Burke will be spending Christmas in a jail cell.

Why?

Because he used a student’s “wrong” pronouns.

Seriously, folks?! Are we really going to start throwing people in jail over pronouns?

This happened over in Ireland.

But we all know that woke-ism spreads.

The extremism happening in Europe will only spread. We’ve already seen some of that influence here in the states.

The school where #EnochBurke works will be closed over Christmas, so it would be impossible for him to breach his court order. The courts have decided to keep him imprisoned anyway.

This proves that to the left, Woke-ism is a religion.

And they don’t have any tolerance for people who don’t think like them.

Breitbart has more details about Burke’s imprisonment:

A man who has been in jail since September will reportedly spend Christmas in prison after refusing to refer to one of his “transgender” students using their preferred pronouns.

Enoch Burke, a teacher from Ireland, had requested to be released from prison ahead of Christmas during a sitting of the country’s High Court on Tuesday.

Burke had initially been jailed back in September after an incident where he reportedly refused to use a “transgender” pupil’s preferred pronouns, which eventually led to him ignoring a court order that he stay away from the school he taught in.

Although the teacher reportedly claimed that the order flew in the face of his religious freedom, the High Court reportedly refused to consider this line of argument, before ordering that the teacher be jailed until he purges his contempt.

So far however, Burke has remained steadfast in his claim that the court order violates his religious freedoms, with the Irish Independent reporting the man as asking the sitting judge to release him in consideration of the religious significance of this time of year.

So why aren’t more people fighting back against the woke left?

Because they’re afraid that if an innocent teacher can be jailed, they can be, too.

This is why it’s important to stop this mentality before it engrains itself into our culture and collective psyche.

Whatever your personal feelings about Enoch Burke, his cause or his behaviour – if you feel the need to use Twitter to express ‘delight’ that he’ll be in prison for Christmas, you need to be a better person.

Christians all over the world are praying for Burke.

Currently, Burke is pleading with the court to free him in time for Christmas.

Will they listen?

According to the Irish Examiner:

Jailed teacher Enoch Burke is likely to remain behind bars for Christmas.

This is despite his plea to a High Court judge on Tuesday that he had never been in trouble with the law. He pleaded with the court to use its discretion to “free me for Christmas”.

Despite refusing to purge his contempt, Mr Burke, via a video link from Mountjoy, pleaded with Mr Justice Conor Dignam on Tuesday morning to release him from custody, telling the court he was “not a thief, a murderer or a drug dealer” and was behind bars because of his religious objections to transgenderism.

The judge said he was not prepared to release Mr Burke, given the teacher at Wilson’s Hospital School in Co Westmeath was not prepared to purge his contempt and comply with what the judge said was “a valid court order”.

Despite his refusal to comply with the order, Mr Burke can secure his release at any point by coming before the court and purging his contempt.

The judge’s ruling promoted an angry response from Mr Burke’s parents Sean and Martina Burke, who were present in court with two of their other children. They strongly criticised the judge and the judiciary over the jailing of their son.

Sean Burke said the court’s refusal to release his son from prison was “unbelievable,” adding Enoch was not a criminal.

He said he had brought his son up to have strong Christian values, and the objections to transgenderism is in the Bible, “from the book of Genesis to Revelations”.

Enoch Burke’s mother Martina Burke said the judiciary would face judgement from “a higher power” and “God Almighty” in relation to their decisions regarding her son.

She said the case was “all about transgenderism” and her son’s constitutional right to freely express his religious beliefs, which it has been claim have been breached.

She said a child of primary school age knew what the case was all about.

“Shame upon you” Mrs Burke also told the court.
