Swedish investigators announced Friday the conclusion of their formal investigation into the Nord Stream pipeline blasts in September.
Unsurprisingly, the investigation concluded that the natural gas leaks were the result of “gross sabotage.”
Without naming a culprit, the Swedish report stated that the initial stage of the inquiry uncovered evidence of “foreign objects” and “traces of explosives” placed on the pipelines.
Sweden's Nord Stream leak investigation so far has not named definitive suspects
But Sweden's assessment corroborates Denmark's assessment that explosions caused the pipeline leak

“In the crime scene investigations carried out on site in the Baltic Sea, the area and the extensive damage to the gas lines as a result of the detonations have been extensively documented,” the Swedish Prosecution Authority said in a statement.
“During analyzes carried out, residues of explosives have been identified on several of the foreign objects seized,” it said.
The statement added:
The advanced analysis work continues in order to be able to draw safer conclusions about the incident. The investigation is extensive and complex. The continued preliminary investigation must show whether someone can be served with suspicion and later prosecuted.
The preliminary investigation is conducted by the Security Police under the direction of prosecutors at the National Security Unit. The security police cooperates with several authorities, among others the Coast Guard, the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Police have assisted in the work.
What happened in the Baltic Sea is very serious. The security police follow developments closely and take measures that are needed based on the authority’s mission to protect Sweden and Sweden’s security.
Of course, the gas pipeline did not explode on its own. The aim was to sabotage and prevent #Europe from thinking of resupplying the continent with #Russia's gas for a while.

Russia has denied responsibility, while also pointing fingers at the United States or its allies.
From Zero Hedge:
Russian media sources, as well as a handful of Western pundits, have alleged that US naval activity was observed in that regional of the Baltic Sea during the time of the incident.
If Sweden ultimately says that Russia was behind the attack on the pipelines, Moscow is likely to dismiss it, and call for their own independent access to and investigation of the evidence and site.
According to a series of tweets by Kim Dotcom, Russia knows that the United Kingdom blew up the Nord Stream pipelines in partnership with the U.S.
How do the Russians know that the UK blew up the North Stream pipelines in partnership with the US?
Because @trussliz used her iPhone to send a message to @SecBlinken saying “It’s done” a minute after the pipeline blew up and before anybody else knew?
