Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake responded to Hillary Clinton accusing her of laughing at Paul Pelosi on Thursday, telling the world, “I’m in perfect health. My brakes on my car are in good shape, and I am not suicidal.”

Hillary Clinton heavily criticized Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake for seeming to make light of the recent attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, asking “what kind of person is that?”

The former presidential candidate had been discussing the Republican party’s focus on crime in the 2022 midterm elections and the recent attack on Paul Pelosi, arguing that the party’s focus on crime was to drum up fear among voters. Clinton described the attack on Pelosi as “a real indicator of where we are in our country right now” and accused Lake, whom she called “the woman running in Arizona,” of laughing about the attack, according to CNN.

“You know, I am rarely shocked anymore, but the reaction that I’ve seen from a number of Republicans, both in person and online, making fun of that attack, somehow trying to turn it into a joke, the same party that wants us to be worried about crime?” Clinton said. “You know, the hypocrisy is incredibly obvious and I want voters to think hard about why would you give authority to people who laugh at what happened to Paul Pelosi. We can have our differences over all kinds of policies, but when you really get to the human level, my goodness, what kind of person is that, and why would we entrust any power to such a person?”
