It appears CNN isn’t done cleaning house.
Trump-hating ‘reporter’ Jim Acosta is reportedly next on the Fake News Network chopping block, according to Jon Nicosia, the former managing editor for the Washington Examiner who accurately reported on Brian Stelter’s demise.
After CNN boss Jeff Zucker and Stelter bit the dust, Jim Acosta is allegedly the next one out the door.
A Discovery Executive at CNN told John Nicosia, the “big name” about to exit CNN “does not have a place in the new CNN. He reminds us of the Zucker period we are looking to move far from. The only reason he is still on air was not to look like we were ‘cleaning house’ for political reasons right after the closing.”

John Nicosia revealed the “big name” he was referring to is Jim Acosta.
“The person this Discovery exec was talking about is Jim Acosta. CNN (like they did when I reported about Stelter being let go) will be to defend the person. That’s what network PR people do. Keep in mind many of the recent people let go had big support within the network /more”

“Since Acosta was the main Trump lightning rod between the “old” CNN and the new owners future vision he will either go quick, or with a lot of internal pushback. Stay tuned,” he said.
But did not fit into the ‘middle ground’ vision CNN is being pushed into. Since Acosta was the main Trump lightning rod between the “old” CNN and the new owners future vision he will either go quick, or with a lot of internal pushback. Stay tuned.

As I said. The PR folks at CNN will defend to the end as they did Stelter. Also. Try to find a negative post about CNN on this site in the last 5 yrs. https://t.co/eNNg5Jjois

John Nicosia added: “One important thing that this executive wanted to stress is they are nowhere near done, and Acosta won’t be the last of the “old guard” to go, but this “takes time” and “they’re getting an incredible amount of internal push back from people who want to stay a resistance network.”

A source close to CNN leadership reportedly told Mediaite that the rumors were “absolute bulls**t.”
Rumors have been circulating that CNN anchor Jim Acosta is the next boldface name to exit the cable news network in the wake of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, but those rumors are “absolute bullsh*t,” as one source so colorfully told Mediaite.
There have been a number of major changes since the merger, most notably the shuttering of the CNN+ streaming service after less than a month and the cancellation of Reliable Sources — along with the departure of its host, Brian Stelter.
Journalist Jon Nicosia (a former Mediaite managing editor) set the rumor mill churning with Acosta’s name with several tweets last Tuesday claiming another “big name” would be leaving CNN, and then following up on Friday by identifying that name as Acosta.
Acosta’s name may have sounded plausible for the chopping block in light of reports that CNN’s new president Chris Licht was pushing the network away from the “extremes” of partisan commentary, including being willing to “oust” on-air talent that didn’t fall in line — and several of these reports speculated about Acosta’s fate by expressly mentioning his name.
However, in this case, the rumors seem to be just that — rumors — and Acosta is not going anywhere, with support coming from the very top.
“Absolute bullsh*t,” a source close to CNN leadership told Mediaite about the rumors, saying that Licht himself had made it clear Acosta was safe and there were zero plans to kick him to the curb.
We shall see in the coming days if the rumors materialize and Acosta gets canned from the network.
