What Is The Logan Act, And Why Does The Left Want Musk Arrested For “Violating” It?

The  “Logan Act” went trending on Twitter this Tuesday evening, so what is it?

By law, the Logan Act  is a “United States federal law that criminalizes negotiation by unauthorized American citizens with foreign governments having a dispute with the United States The Logan Act was enacted January 30, 1799.”

So what makes it relevant today?

It became relevant after the RINO group the Lincoln Project stated that Elon Musk violated the Logan Act after it was reported that Musk spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding peace negotiations in Ukraine.

Musk however has denied that he ever talked to Putin about any peace deals.

If Musk advocated for the US to bomb Russia the left would cheerlead for him.

Vice shared these details:

Elon Musk spoke directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin before tweeting a proposal to end the war in Ukraine that would have seen territory permanently ceded to Russia, it has been claimed.

In a mailout sent to Eurasia Group subscribers, Ian Bremmer wrote that Tesla CEO Musk told him that Putin was “prepared to negotiate,” but only if Crimea remained Russian, if Ukraine accepted a form of permanent neutrality, and Ukraine recognised Russia’s annexation of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

According to Bremmer, Musk said Putin told him these goals would be accomplished “no matter what,” including the potential of a nuclear strike if Ukraine invaded Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014. Bremmer wrote that Musk told him that “everything needed to be done to avoid that outcome.”

Last week, Musk posted essentially the same points on Twitter, although he suggested that the referendums in the annexed territories slammed as sham votes by Ukraine and the West be redone under supervision by the United Nations.

CNBC shared these details:

CEO Elon Musk is denying a report by Eurasia Group founder and political scientist Ian Bremmer which claimed Musk said he recently spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin about, “the minimum the Russian president would require to end the war.”

Bremmer’s note went out earlier this week to clients. Investor Sven Henrich asked Musk (via his Twitter account ”@northmantrader”) if the report was true. Musk responded in a tweet, “No, it is not. I have spoken to Putin only once and that was about 18 months ago. The subject matter was space.”
