Kari Lake Demolishes Her ‘Twice-Convicted Racist’ Opponent During Trump Rally

Donald Trump was in Arizona over the weekend to stump for GOP candidates ahead of next month’s midterm elections. While his remarks were noteworthy on their own, gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake stole the show with her expert takedown of Democratic rival Katie Hobbs.

Much of Lake’s argument hinged on the fact that Hobbs was twice found culpable of racial discrimination after a Black state Senate staffer was fired in 2015.

Here’s a synopsis of the case from KPNX:

First, some background.

In early 2015, Hobbs was the Democratic minority leader of the state Senate. She would be elected secretary of state in 2018.

Talonya Adams, who’s a lawyer, was a policy adviser on the Democratic staff and the only African-American policy advisor at the Capitol.

In February 2015, Adams was fired, in part for protesting that she was paid less than her white colleagues.

“Katie Hobbs is a twice-convicted racist who has cost the taxpayers of Arizona nearly $3 million in settlements,” Lake told attendees at the recent rally. “That is a fact.”

While she denounced the “fake news” for ignoring the story, she’s not the only one who has cited allegations of racism as a reason that Hobbs should not be Arizona’s next governor.

As usual, Trump offered more than a few memorable lines during the event.

According to AZCentral:

“We are a nation in decline,” Trump said near the end of his speech as sorrowful sounding music played. “We are a nation that in many ways has become a joke.”

“But we are not going to allow this horror to continue,” he said. “It is hard-working patriots like you who are going to save this country.”

Here’s a clip from Lake’s portion of the rally:
