Captain David Dorn’s killer has just been sentenced.
Stephen Cannon has been sentenced to life in prison after previously being convicted of first-degree murder for shooting Captain David Dorn during a night of looting and rioting in St. Louis.
At the very emotional court sentencing, Dorn’s son told his father’s killer “I hope your eyes are woke. You still have time to get everything together and make amends with your maker,”.
Cannon will now serve a life sentence with no chance of parole.

The Conservative Brief had more details to add to the story:
Stephan Cannon has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of former St. Louis Police Capt. David Dorn.
“Cannon was convicted of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, stealing $750 or more, unlawful possession of a firearm, and three counts of armed criminal action – all felonies,” Fox News reported.
“According to KSDK’s Christine Byers, Cannon was sentenced to life without parole on the first-degree murder charge,” the report added.
Dorn’s son, Brian Powell, also spoke during the sentencing.
“I hope your eyes are woke. You still have time to get everything together and make amends with your maker,” he said.
Earlier this summer, a jury found Cannon guilty on all counts of killing Dorn during a night of looting and rioting in June 2020.
“Justice has been served,” his family told reporters outside the courthouse in videos posted online.
“Cannon was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, stealing $750 or more, unlawful possession of a firearm, and three counts of armed criminal action – all felonies,” Fox News reported. “Dorn, 77, was responding to a burglar alarm at a friend’s pawn shop when he encountered a group of looters outside.”

Fox News had more on the story too:
Ann Dorn, whose husband David Dorn was killed during the 2020 riots that stemmed from George Floyd’s death, called out Democrats, including Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., for still supporting the “defund police” movement.
Dorn pointed out the hypocrisy of Bush’s support of anti-police rhetoric on “Fox & Friends First” Thursday.
“I find it funny that she says ‘defund the police.’ But yet, she spends $400,000-$700,000 on security alone just for herself using police officers to do it. And her own city that she came from is being destroyed by crime. Police are needed and the community does not want to defund the police. They want more police,” she told Carley Shimkus.
As crime continues to rise across the nation, Dorn slammed prosecutors for soft-on-crime policies.
“In Illinois, they just passed a no-bail law. And it’s not for people who just commit small, minor offenses, people who commit second-degree murder, really big-time crimes. So why do you think these ideas are so pervasive in the face of all the statistics that show they are not working?”
