Columbia Professor Shocks Mainstream Media Hosts With Nord Stream Pipeline Statements

A professor on Bloomberg television said the U.S. was most likely responsible for the Nord Stream pipeline leaks, sending the news hosts into a frenzy.

“Columbia University Economics Professor Jeffrey Sachs explained on Monday that the U.S. was the most likely culprit behind the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage, pointing to promises by Joe Biden and State Department officials to end the pipeline if Russia invaded Ukraine,” Infowars reported.

“To make it definitive, the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline, which I would bet was a U.S. action – perhaps U.S. and Poland – this is speculation…” Sachs began before getting interrupted by “Bloomberg Surveillance” host Tom Keene.

“Jeff, Jeff, we gotta stop there. That’s quite a statement as well,” Keene snapped.

“Why do you feel that that was a U.S. action? What evidence do you have of that?”

Infowars added:

Unfortunately for Keene, Sachs brought receipts, pointing to “direct radar evidence” confirming a U.S. military presence around the pipelines prior to the leaks.

“Well, first of all, there’s direct radar evidence that U.S. helicopters, military helicopters that are normally placed in Gdańsk were circling over this area,” Sachs noted.

Sachs then pointed to “threats” made by Biden administration officials over the last several months vowing to end the pipeline.

“We also had the threats from the United States earlier this in year that one way or another, we are going to end Nord Stream,” Sachs said.

Sachs then highlighted remarks by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said Friday that the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage presented a “tremendous opportunity” to wean Europe from Russian energy dependence.

“Sorry, it’s a strange way to talk if you’re worried about piracy on international infrastructure of vital significance,” he said, as co-host Lisa Abramowicz tried to get a word in edgewise.

“I know this runs counter to our narrative that you’re not allowed to say these things in the West, but the fact of the matter is, all over the world when I talk to people, they think the U.S. did it,” he said, adding that even reporters publicly blaming Russia for the leaks privately believe the U.S. is responsible.

Abramowicz dismissed Sachs’ analysis, saying, “Professor, I don’t want to get into a tit for tat about what did or did not happen with Nord Stream because we don’t have the evidence and we don’t have a counterbalance to this.”
