Memphis police announced Wednesday night they had taken into custody Ezekiel Kelly, the 19-year-old man accused of going on a mass shooting spree and live-streaming his actions.

Kelly is a convicted criminal who had been released in March early from a three year sentence.

Memphis police earlier released a BOLO photo of Ezekiel Kelly.
The Memphis Police Department announced at 9:28 p.m. local time that Ezekiel Kelly was in custody.

WMC-TV reporter Joyce Peterson posted Kelly has a warrant for murder, “#NEW: the 19-year-old active shooter suspect Ezekiel Kelly has an active warrant due 1st Degree Murder. He’s being taken to a nearby fire station to be checked out.”
Peterson witnessed Kelly being captured by police.

Local news reports Kelly shot a woman in medical scrubs who went to his aid after he faked being hurt.

Breaking: I looked into the criminal history of Ezekiel Kelly, the #Memphis gunman. Last year he was convicted of aggravated assault & sentenced to 3 years prison but was released early. His attempted murder & other felony charges were dismissed.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported Kelly’s early release from a three year sentence:
Kelly has prior arrests for attempted first-degree murder and reckless endangerment in 2020.
He was sentenced to three years but was released March 16 this year. Police issued a warrant for first-degree murder for Kelly on Wednesday night.
