Governor Gavin Newsom Mocked After In-Laws Donated to Ron DeSantis PAC

It appears California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s in-laws are fans of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

According to donation records, Kenneth Siebel Jr. and Judith Siebel, the parents of Newsom’s wife, made a $5,000 donation to the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC in April.

Newsom family dinners must be awkward!

From Fox News:

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been a vocal critic of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in recent weeks, but Newsom’s in-laws seem to approve of the popular Republican.

According to contribution records on the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC website, the Siebel Family Revocable Trust made a $5,000 contribution on April 6, 2022.

That trust is run by Kenneth F. Siebel Jr. and Judith A. Siebel, the parents of Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel, records obtained by Fox News Digital show.

Newsom’s father-in-law Kenneth Siebel has a long history of making donations to GOP candidates, according to Federal Election Commission filings. His most recent donations include contributions to the campaigns of Republicans Sens. Ron Johnson, Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley.

Both Newsom and DeSantis are among the top names being floated as potential 2024 contenders in their respective parties, particularly if President Biden and former President Trump choose to sit out in the next presidential cycle.

Newsom drew national attention in July for airing an ad in Florida, telling residents that “freedom is under attack” in the Sunshine State and urging them to move to California “where we still believe in freedom.”

DeSantis responded by slamming Newsom’s “terrible governance,” mocking how he now sees “a lot” of California license plates in his state, adding “if you go to California, you ain’t seeing very many Florida license plates.”

Newsom aired attack ads in Florida against DeSantis and has donated $100,000 to his opponent Democrat Charlie Crist.

“KTTV-TV reported last week that the California governor revealed he had donated $100,000 to former Florida governor and Democrat Charlie Crist, DeSantis’ opponent in his upcoming race, telling reporters that he doesn’t support candidates who ‘demean people,'” The Western Journal noted.

Newsom was mocked over his in-laws donating to DeSantis.

NATIONAL POLL: Do You Trust Fox News?

From Newsweek:

“Gavin Newsom’s father-in-law donated to Ron DeSantis,” conservative podcaster Liz Wheeler tweeted. “That is objectively hilarious.”

“I’m sure he’s humiliated because of how aggressive he’s come out against Ron DeSantis,” conservative radio personality Clay Travis said on an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday. “There’s a possibility guys, that this could be a presidential election in 2024 or 2028. These guys don’t like each other. And they have such diametrically opposed perspectives when it comes to COVID.

“Ron DeSantis got everything right on the data,” he added, “and I think [that] deep in his heart, Gavin Newsom knows that, and he’s so bothered by it that he can’t stop talking about [DeSantis].”
