Mikhail Gorbachev who was the USSR’s final leader was found dead this morning at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow.
Gorbachev was best known for bringing down the “Iron Curtain” by putting an end to the Soviet Union’s long time reign in Europe.
The former Soviet leader spent the last days of his life suffering from kidney failure and ultimately passed away at the age of 91.
Putin and other Russian nationalists have been very vocal about Gorbachev’s rule and have on several occasions blamed him for the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Sky News had these details to share:
Former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev has died at the age of 91, according to Russian media.
His office earlier said that he was undergoing treatment at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow.
His death was reported by the Tass, RIA Novosti and Interfax agencies, citing the medical facility.
Mr Gorbachev was known for ending the Cold War without bloodshed but failed to prevent the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991.
He forged weapons reduction deals with the US and partnerships with western powers to remove the Iron Curtain that had divided Europe since World War Two and bring about the reunification of Germany.
Mikhail Gorbachev is dead at 92.
Many people don't know this, but Gorbachev transitioned seamlessly from being the most powerful communist leader in the world as head of the USSR to becoming a vocal radical environmentalist in the early 1990s.

The Daily Mail got the scoop too:
Mikhail Gorbachev – the last leader of the USSR and the man despised by Vladimir Putin and Russian nationalists for ending the Cold War while failing to prevent the collapse of the Soviet Union – has died at the age of 91, Russian news agencies cited hospital officials as saying.
The Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow said that the former Soviet leader died ‘after a serious and long illness’ but gave no other details, according to the Interfax, TASS and RIA Novosti news agencies.
Gorbachev had been suffering from long term kidney problems and was on dialysis – and was confined to a clinic during the pandemic.
Though in power less than seven years, the USSR’s last leader forged a series of breathtaking series of changes that resulted in the reunification of Germany, the collapse of Stalin’s Soviet Union, the liberation of Eastern European nations including Poland, Ukraine and the Baltic republics from Russian domination, and the end of decades of nuclear confrontation with the West.
