FBI Responds To Zuckerberg’s Comments About Hunter Biden

During an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast last week the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg stated that Facebook censored the Hunter Biden laptop story after the FBI approached the tech company.

According to Zuckerberg, the FBI told Facebook that “Russian propaganda” was about to be released and that the social media company should be on the lookout for bombshell stories.

In response, the FBI didn’t try to defend themselves but rather was quoted saying “routinely notifies U.S. private sector entities, including social media providers, of potential threat information”.

Imagine that!

“Conspiracy theorists” have been saying the FBI has been collaborating with Big Tech companies for years and now Zuckerberg and the FBI have both admitted to it.

Fox Business didn’t stay behind and dropped these details:

An appearance by Mark Zuckerberg on Joe Rogan’s podcast last week stoked controversy after the Meta CEO admitted that Facebook limited the bombshell Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the 2020 election because the FBI had warned about “Russian propaganda.”

After the release of the episode on Thursday, the FBI said it “routinely notifies U.S. private sector entities, including social media providers, of potential threat information, so that they can decide how to better defend against threats.”

In a statement released to FOX Business, the agency said it has provided companies with “foreign threat indicators to help them protect their platforms and customers from abuse by foreign malign influence actors.”

“The FBI will continue to work closely with federal, state, local, and private sector partners to keep the public informed of potential threats, but the FBI cannot ask, or direct, companies to take action on information received,” the agency said.

Meta said later Friday night that nothing about the Hunter Biden laptop story was new.

The Daily Wire chipped in too:

The FBI finally weighed in on Mark Zuckerberg’s claim that Facebook suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story after being warned about “Russian propaganda” by the bureau ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

Zuckerberg, who founded the company which is now known as Meta, told podcast giant Joe Rogan this week that Facebook restricted sharing of the story because the FBI had warned the company just before it broke that a Russian disinformation dump was coming. The revelation, coupled with whistleblowers’ allegations the bureau barred agents from investigating it, raises questions about the FBI’s role in the election.

“The FBI routinely notifies U.S. private sector entities, including social media providers, of potential threat information, so that they can decide how to better defend against threats,” the bureau said in a statement Friday night, adding that it “cannot ask, or direct, companies to take action on information received.”

While Facebook and Twitter, which also silenced the New York Post bombshell ahead of the election, are private companies not technically bound by the First Amendment, any action taken under government pressure could become a constitutional issue.
