CNN on NOTICE: Trump Notifies Network of LAWSUIT Over “Defamatory Comments”

Things are about to go from bad to worse for CNN.

President Trump has just notified the network of his intent to file a lawsuit against them over “defamatory comments.”

CNN has lost at least one similar lawsuit in the past.

Nicholas Sandmann reportedly won millions of dollars because of the fake news about his “incident” with a Native American elder.

President Trump made the announcement via a press release:

In addition to notifying CNN about a lawsuit, did you notice how President Trump really leans into the 2020 election.

Does that sound like a man who’s not trying to expose and drain the swamp?!

Specifically, Trump is suing the network – and threatening to sue the rest of the mainstream media – because of their reporting on his voter fraud “claims.”

According to The Hill:

Former President Trump on Wednesday said he planned to file a lawsuit against CNN, alleging the network has repeatedly defamed him dating back to his 2016 campaign for the presidency.

“I have notified CNN of my intent to file a lawsuit over their repeated defamatory statements against me,” Trump said in a statement. “I will also be commencing actions against other media outlets who have defamed me and defrauded the public regarding the overwhelming evidence of fraud throughout the 2020 Election. I will never stop fighting for the truth and for the future of our Country!”

The 282-page letter from Trump’s attorneys to CNN executives, dated July 21, calls for the network to retract or correct numerous on-air statements and published articles about Trump that the lawyers allege are false and defamatory.

The letter goes on to cite dozens of examples, many of which relate to the network’s coverage of Trump’s repeated claims that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent. CNN coverage frequently referred to those claims as “lies,” “false narratives” and “baseless theories,” among other terms.

The lawsuit alleges those descriptions are “false and defamatory,” in part because Trump genuinely believes his claims that the election was stolen.

“Without regard for President Trump’s genuine belief in his statements, CNN has published numerous articles characterizing him as a ‘liar’ and the purveyor of the ‘Big Lie,’” the letter to CNN states.

But perhaps in a preview of how Trump’s lawsuit is likely to be received, dozens of lawsuits filed after the 2020 alleging there was widespread fraud that tipped the scales in favor of Joe Biden were summarily dismissed because of a lack of evidence, in some cases by judges appointed by Trump.

Trump has spent the 18 months since leaving office continuing to claim the 2020 election was stolen or rigged against him, including as recently as Tuesday during a speech in Washington, D.C. Multiple audits and recounts have validated Biden’s victory, and many former Trump administration officials have said there was not enough fraud to change the outcome.

This doesn’t sound like a man who doesn’t have a plan.

Trump is trying to fight back and hold the media at bay.

Now that he has been banned by Twitter and Facebook, Trump is beginning to fight the media in their own turf.

This could at least dampen some of their more extreme, outright bias.

Don’t forget that President Trump is a man of his word.

He made promises in the 2016 election and he kept them.

That’s why so many of us supported him in 2020 (and still support him now): because he did what he said he was going to do.

So it’s clear that President Trump will sue CNN.

The Daily Wire has more information, including text from the actual notification that was sent to CNN:

Former President Donald Trump announced his intent to sue CNN and other cable networks on Wednesday that have “defamed [him] and defrauded the public” about the 2020 election.

[…]

Ifrah Law, a Washington-based law firm, sent a Notice of Intent to the network. The notice included a 26-page letter laying out the basis for the lawsuit as well as hundreds of pages of exhibits.

“After the 2016 election, various members of the Democratic party gave numerous televised statements claiming the 2016 election was illegitimate. This included suggestions about Russian interference causing President Trump to win the election and regular referrals to President Trump being an ‘illegitimate’ President,” the notice says. “CNN repeatedly allowed for assertions that President Trump was illegitimately elected to go largely unchallenged, including statements made by Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Jimmy Carter, Jerry Nadler, John Lewis, Dianne Feinstein, Marcia Fudge, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.”

NATIONAL POLL: Do You Trust Fox News?

The notice goes on to address the 2020 election, claiming that the network’s use of referring to Trump’s claims about the election as “the big lie” are also defamatory, as it suggests that the former president is willfully misleading the public, rather than stating what he believes to be true.

“In this instance, President Trump’s comments are not lies: He subjectively believes that the results of the 2020 presidential election turned on fraudulent voting activity in several key states. Furthermore, the repeated characterization of President Trump lying was distinctly at odds with CNN’s treatment of individuals claiming President Trump’s 2016 was ‘illegitimate’ or based upon ‘Russian interference,’” the notice states.

Also, is this Trump’s first step in fighting back against the corrupt January 6th hearings?

Is that what this is about?

So far, we’ve only heard the Democrats’ and the media’s side.

But by taking this to court, Trump is going to force the media to cover it to the whole country, especially if… when they lose.
