The entire left has been painting WNBA star Britney Griner as a victim of Russia’s authoritarian regime but what they failed to talk about is the season why she was arrested in the first place.
In a Russian Court on Thursday, Britney Griner was found guilty of drug charges for attempting to bring vape cartridges that contained cannabis through a Russian airport.
According to court documents, Griner was quoted saying “I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law”.
US intelligence officers believe that Putin will not grant Griner clemency unless Biden does a prisoner swap for Viktor Bout a Russian arms dealer.

Fox News had more on the story:
Brittney Griner pleaded guilty to drug charges in a Russian court on Thursday.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist was arrested in February for allegedly trying to bring vape cartridges containing oils derived from cannabis through a Moscow airport.
“I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law,” she said in court, via Reuters.
“I’d like to give my testimony later. I need time to prepare,” she added.
Griner’s guilty plea comes just one day after Russia’s Foreign Ministry said during a news briefing that the WNBA star will have the ability to appeal her verdict or apply for clemency. The Foreign Ministry also disputed claims made by the U.S. that she was wrongfully detained on Feb. 17.
“The court must first deliver its verdict, but no one is stopping Brittney Griner from making use of the appeal procedure and also from requesting clemency,” a spokesperson for the ministry said, adding that “attempts to present her case as though the American woman was illegally detained do not stand up to criticism.”
Brittney Griner actively refused to be present during the playing of the U.S. National Anthem before games, and even demanded the Anthem and flag ceremony be avoided in all games.

The Associated Press dropped these details:
Jailed American basketball star Brittney Griner on Thursday pleaded guilty to drug possession during her trial in Moscow but said she had no intention of committing a crime.
Representatives for Griner confirmed to The Associated Press that the WNBA star pleaded guilty to drug possession charges.
Russian news reports quoted Griner as saying through an interpreter at the court hearing that she had acted unintentionally because she was packing in haste.
Griner was detained in February at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport after vape canisters with cannabis oil allegedly were found in her luggage. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of large-scale transportation of drugs.
The trial of the Phoenix Mercury star and two-time Olympic gold medalist began last week amid a growing chorus of calls for Washington to do more to secure her freedom nearly five months after her arrest.
