Whatever one thinks of America’s imperial role, this is a proper use of that power—protecting American citizens abroad.
In 2019, American rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested and held in Sweden for allegedly assaulting a man with a broken bottle.
Rocky claimed that he was being followed and harassed by the individual in question and that he had to resort to means of self-defense.
Eventually, he was released, but also found guilty of assault charges and received a suspended sentence.
It was not known at the time, but according to Sweden’s Minister of Justice, President Trump threatened Sweden with a trade war if Rocky was not promptly released…
Despite this, it was reported that Rocky was not at all thankful for President Trump’s helping hand in his release from the Nordic country. Take a look:

At the time, President Trump directed this tweet at Swedish authorities, highlighted by Trending Politics:
“Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Lovfen for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States,” wrote Trump.
“I watched the tapes of ASAP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers.
“Treat Americans fairly. #FreeRocky”
