Pilot Point Mayor Matthew McIlravy, 42, has resigned after being accused of soliciting a minor for sex.
McIlravy, a married father of two boys, was arrested Tuesday following a five-month undercover operation by Dallas police, The Dallas Morning News reported.
The mayor submitted his resignation Thursday ahead of a city council meeting after being charged last week with online solicitation of a minor under the age of 14.

From The Dallas Morning News:
At Thursday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Chad Major — who led the meeting in the mayor’s absence — said McIlravy had submitted his resignation and the council would act on it at a future meeting, in accordance with Texas law and the city’s charter.
Dallas police said he was arrested after a five-month investigation that also included the U.S. Marshals Task Force, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Collin County district attorney’s office.
According to an arrest-warrant affidavit obtained by KTVT-TV (Channel 11), McIlRavy exchanged messages with an undercover officer posing as a 12-year-old girl.
Police said the investigation also revealed additional “communications with minors” who have not been identified.
McIlravy started a three-year term in May to head the Denton County town of roughly 4,000 residents, according to its website, which has removed his biography.
