‘Insane’: Gov. Whitmer Criticized for Using This Term to Describe Women in Her State

There has been plenty of public debate in recent years regarding the use of so-called “woke” language to describe people and behaviors.

For her part, Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has clearly made it a priority to use words and phrases that will placate the far left in her state and across the country.

Most recently, she attracted backlash from Republican candidates trying to unseat her after using a bizarre euphamism for the word “women.”

In response to a question about the perceived importance of protecting a woman’s right to receive an abortion, Whitmer emphasized her commitment to “menstruating people” across Michigan.

The remark drew instant criticism, as Fox News reported:

The crowded field of Republican campaigns seeking to oust Whitmer responded sharply to her comments, with one calling them “insane” and another suggesting they were adverse to America’s founding documents.

“Has the left gone insane? I mean really. Menstruating people? Drag queens in every school? This is not normal behavior. Someone needs to check the Democratic Party. It’s starting to seem like COVID was more like mad cow disease,” businesswoman Tudor Dixon told Fox News Digital, including reference to Democratic Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel saying at a recent event that there should be “a drag queen for every school.”

Pastor Ralph Rebandt addressed Whitmer’s comments from a constitutional and religious standpoint.

“Our Declaration of Independence addresses ‘the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God.’ Governor Whitmer’s use of politically correct LGBTQ+ language is evidence of a moral collapse in our society,” he told Fox News Digital.

Amid an increased focus on appeasing the transgender community, many on the left have found it difficult to describe — or even say — the word “woman.”

Whitmer was not the first prominent Democrat to use similar terminology to describe women.

Less than a year ago, U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) uttered the same phrase.

As the New York Post reported:

The far-left New York congresswoman called Abbott “deeply ignorant” on Tuesday over the Lone Star State’s new law that prohibits almost all abortions after the six-week mark — including pregnancies that are the result of rape or incest.

“I don’t know if he is familiar with a menstruating person’s body. In fact, I do know that he’s not familiar with a female or menstruating person’s body because if he did, he would know that you don’t have six weeks,” Ocasio-Cortez told CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

Conservative columnist Matt Walsh recently released a documentary film aimed at exploring the recent inability of many progressives to define what a woman is.

Here’s a trailer of the film:
